In 2024, the gaming industry is witnessing a surge in unconventional small games from small studios, indicating that the future of gaming belongs to these unique experiences. These small games have made a significant impact, with unexpected breakout hits and high replayability, offering captivating and innovative experiences to players. Small studios are excelling in taking creative risks and adapting quickly to changing player expectations, contrasting with large studio projects that often have lengthy development times and struggle to keep up with trends. The success of small games is attributed to their ability to fit into players' lives alongside large, time-consuming games, making them easier to adopt and enjoy. The visibility and accessibility of game development tools, along with digital distribution platforms, have created a conducive environment for small studios to thrive and compete with larger companies in the industry. While big games still hold a place in the industry, the trend towards small, unusual games is likely to continue due to the changing landscape of game development and player preferences.🎮 What are your thoughts on the rising influence of small games from small studios in the gaming industry? #GamingTrends #IndieGames #GameDevelopment 🎮 https://lnkd.in/ejtjuGCk

The only bombshell at Summer Game Fest 2024 was the Indie revolution. For me, this was the worst Summer Game Fest for triple-A titles I’ve ever watched. We’ve reached a point where small games were more captivating than the big-budget releases. The only major highlight was the announcement of the new Civilization game, which genuinely excited me, even though I’ve never played the series. It’s clear that big studios are still trying to capture the mid-covid audience, focusing on expansive gaming services that are now nearing the end of their development cycle and running out of fresh ideas. Indies, on the other hand, have evolved remarkably. They now capture as much attention as triple A and it’s amazing! This is a crucial moment where Indies are no longer overshadowed by big titles, publishers, or a system that undervalues them. So, let’s support Indies! Whether it's through wishlisting their games or recommending them to friends, every bit helps. Indies are the future of gaming. Let’s make it happen! #indiegames #gamedevelopment #indiegamedev

Arrowhead Game Studios has won Gaming in 2024, with Hell Divers 2, it seems to hit reset to the overall market. ✨ They are a small studio in comparison to big box, creating one of my all time favorites, the Gaunlet series. Their Moto: 1. Games should challenge the creativity of the individuals who play them. 2. We want our games to help forge friendships between players all over the world. 3. Because a game for everyone is a game for no one. A game that requires you to collectively problem solve and work together to have the best chance at surviving. One you talk about with your friends after, and make new ones along the way, reminiscing of your few conquests and many failures. It has created a great community surrounding it, the studio has a real life Game Master (Joel), has embraced hackers at times, leaned into hysteria, and held true to their Core Values against pressure. Oh by the way… 😜 They did it all on an Outdated System, at $40 a 43% discount to other games, and no requirement for microtransactions to unlock all of the content or have a premium experience. ⚠️Capcom That’s not just marketing either, only requires moderate playtime. What are the big box companies doing 🤷🏽♂️ Big Props to Arrowhead Game Studios , just keep being you with all the successes 🙏🏾 They are still a private studio! Just have a passion to make great games. #smallmediumbusiness #consumerproducts #gaming #market #values #community

What's the problem with the games industry right now? Well. IMHO, it forgot that it's business is making and selling great games. Could you imagine if the film industry stopped making films? Arkham City was 12 years ago, MGS V was almost 8 years ago. Have there been good games in the interim? Yes, of course. However, we should not be discussing the years between great games. We should be discussing the great games EVERY YEAR. Helldivers 2 is creating so much buzz because it's a great game, and consumers are starving. #gamesindustry #gamesdevelopment
