Unconscious biases can influence hiring decisions, leading to unintended discrimination, exclusionary practices, and mis-hires. Harvard Business Review research found that candidates with "white-sounding" names are 50% more likely to receive interview callbacks than those with "black-sounding" names. The good news: we can mitigate bias with structured hiring processes to minimize subjective judgments and foster inclusivity, for example anonymizing resumes, diversifying interview panels, and providing diversity training.
