1moCouldn’t agree more about how a heavier emphasis on merit based compensation at accounting firms will have a major impact on which firms grow over the following years. Accounting graduates entering the industry are less likely to want to stay long term to make partner without receiving more compensation along the way. The only way firms can retain the high achievers is to offer variable comp that allows the employee to make more money while at the same time increasing firm revenues.
