Word on the treadmill is that 63% of gym memberships go completely unused. No surprises there, I'm sure.
This means that a significant number of people are spending money each month on memberships they don’t use, contributing to financial waste and missed opportunities for personal growth.
Have you signed up for a gym membership this year with the best of intentions? Well, it's June 1st... Ja.
"Just think of all that energy that’s expended in them—surely it could be put to better use? Well, that’s the thought behind a burgeoning fitness movement in Britain, which combines exercise with volunteering. Pioneered by the charity GoodGym, the concept now has academic backing after a study showed participants experience a massive boost in life satisfaction" Positive News
Instead of paying for a gym membership that you might not use, why not consider an alternative that combines fitness with community service?
[I am not being paid for this plug, by the way!!...]
GoodGym enables you to get fit while helping others... can replace the monotony of the treadmill with meaningful activities such as running errands for the elderly or participating in community projects - keeping you physically active AND fostering a sense of purpose and connection.
Similarly, investing in communities that support your personal and professional development is a better investment in YOU. My community, Better Bolder Braver (BBB), for example, is dedicated to helping coaches and people-helpers market themselves ethically and effectively. At BBB, we understand that putting yourself out there can be daunting. That’s why we provide a supportive environment where you can gain clarity, build confidence, and find joy in your marketing efforts.
Joining GoodGym is completely free (though many members choose to donate). You could reallocate the funds you would have spent on an unused gym membership to joining BBB and connecting with like-minded individuals who are committed to making a positive impact and you'd STILL have change every month for a donation to GoodGym!
I want to help people "move forward, more healthily"—whatever that means to you. Like Ivo Gormley the Founder and CEO of GoodGym, I believe in the power of community to drive positive change and support each other in achieving our goals.
P.S. In the UK, data from the Department for Transport shows that around 41% of primary school children and 22% of secondary school children are driven to school, even though many live within walking distance. Just saying.
P.P.S. I'm 94% there in terms of fundraising £1,000 for Refugees at Home. Go on, you know you want to...
