Tens of thousands of people from around the world now are prepping their brands for Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim in March. They’re finalizing booth design. Ramping up manufacturing for samples. Working on messaging for on-stage presentations. Setting up meetings. And then there’s the buyers, the women and men working for retailers who fan out across Expo in search of new products to shepherd into their stores. Much of the intense Expo prep work by brands revolves around appealing to the buyers. In many ways, it’s the judgment of the buyers that either makes or breaks brand success. We recently engaged with nine buyers from a diversity of retailers, asking them to answer two key questions during this runway to Expo. Cosmoprof - Cosmopack, the leading trade fair for the cosmetics industry, will be held for a special edition, from 14 to 17 November 2023, on two exhibition sites. Cosmopack at AsiaWorld Expo and Cosmoprof at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The French flag will be flying strongly at this year’s event, with no fewer than 70 companies exhibiting in the France Pavilions. COSMOPROF - COSMOPACK is the must-attend event for the cosmetics industry in the Asia-Pacific region. Last year in Singapore, there were over 21,000 international visitors. Business France and its partners (Bretagne Commerce International, Nouvelle Aquitaine, Hauts de France and Air France) will be accompanying a delegation of 70 companies, who will be spread out over the different exhibition sites according to their specialities. In addition, the France Pavilions will also be hosting 11 member companies of the WAFIB (We Are French Indie Brands) collective, which promotes young French start-ups. According to FEBEA, the French cosmetics sector generated sales of €45 billion in 2022. The cosmetics sector is a major player in the French economy, and continues to enjoy steady growth thanks to demand for high-quality, innovative products. The cosmetics sector is the third largest contributor to France’s trade balance. French cosmetics enjoy high added value and benefit from the renown of the major luxury brands that have contributed to the reputation of “Made in France”. Synonymous with quality, safety, expertise and above all glamour, French companies in the cosmetics sector invest heavily in research and development, leading to technological creativity and the adoption of advanced concepts: effective formulas, clean beauty, etc. In terms of trends, French brands are increasingly involved in sustainable development, offering clean, ethical and responsible cosmetics through Blue Beauty. Upcycling is also the next big trend. This environmentally-friendly process involves recovering by-products from other industries, which were previously unused and destined for destruction, and reusing them as raw materials. The environmental impact is clear, and in times of crisis it provides a real boost to resilience. The benefits of upcycling are environmental, economic and social. This new practice represents a great opportunity for companies in the sector, enabling them to adopt a more sustainable approach. New contacts with decision-makers, global business opportunities and worldwide streams of visitors: Heimtextil 2024 ended with 46,000 visitors[1] from around 130 nations and 2,838 exhibitors from 60 nations with 25 per cent growth. With a plus in visitors, the show overcame difficult travel conditions due to nationwide rail strikes and regional demonstrations. The response from international buyers to the quality and variety of the new Carpets & Rugs product segment was overwhelming. In numerous talks, tours and workshops, Heimtextil as well focused on two of the most important key topics of the coming decades: sustainable production and action as well as artificial intelligence. I am currently at ITMA Asia, a GRAND textile trade show, and I swear, it felt like a BIG family gathering… Oh wonderful textile industry: where strangers become kin, and we're all in the same thread... I mean, boat. 🚢🧵 What I find with trade shows is also true for ITMA Asia - going BIG is the Only Way to Go! Some booths and banners taller than your ambition, displays so beautifully lit they could power a small city, and goodie bags that make people question their life choices. But in the middle of all the GRANDNESS another thing also became increasingly clear: nothing is as important as the feeling I got here: We aren’t just all in the same boat, we’re all in one BIG family. In the textile world, every connection is woven together: happy customers, strong agencies and partners - and of course colleagues and new business connections. 🌈 We might be in different companies, but we're all cut from the same cloth! The #CantonFair is an exhibition with a relatively #longhistory and has been uninterrupted for 67 years. This shows that the Canton Fair has always maintained strong vitality, especially since the new era, the Canton Fair has been held frequently. This 135th Canton Fair can be said to be full of highlights, embodying "old exhibition, new look" and "#bigbrand, #newvitality". 1️⃣ The first "new" is manifested in "#newqualityproductivity". I am sharing my learnings from the recent Heimtextil at Messe Frankfurt 9-12 Jan 2024 concluded here. With this show, we also need to plan a big show for Pakistani Textiles in Pakistan as a follow-up so we in springs we invited our European and other customers to come and see us in Pakistan. This will open tourism attractions too. This round need to plan in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan. it will impact in coming decades. What are the Tradewinds at the tradeshows indicating us? These feelings and words are not only mines but the same findings from our competitor countries like China, India and Bangladesh. SUSTAINABILITY SUSTAINABILITY SUSTAINABILITY: When we started showing predominantly sustainability lead products and displays in trade shows a couple of seasons ago- not as many buyers and sellers were making it the centerpiece of conversation. Today - it is top of mind. NIMBLENESS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE: If one is looking only for large clients with high MOQs etc etc, then trade shows are not the right place. To really take full advantage of trade shows one must be nimble to adapt to a business model that finds a way - no matter what the customer wants. Strategic planning needs to provide for operational flexibility not rigidity. The thing which i am feeling and it is proved by couple of my friends that today MARGINS ARE SHRINKING, MARKETS ARE NOT. There is enough demand out there. The big Question is - how to manage profitability? With proliferation of tradeshows across the globe, and manufacturing centers holding large tradeshows in addition to international platforms like Germany, B2B customers are spoilt for choice, just like the end consumer is. Everyone is fighting the battle with more and more emphasis on product development with a soul and story, not just looks. The Manufacturers must resist the temptation and the pressure to push prices lower by hurting product quality. The business is like junk food for an enterprise. It may make us feel full, but nutrition is usually missing. I am thankful to all our clients, customers and stakeholders those who made an exciting Heimtextil. We team from MK Sons Pvt Ltd tried our best for a best execution and Yes it was well by us as we are such an awesome team of MK Sons Pvt Ltd. Hope in next show things will be better than this year as this is a march of success for everyone.

On June 14 at ENCOMEX 2024 in Rio de Janeiro and the Dallas Market Center in Dallas, Texas, the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CISBRA) and the Dallas Market Center signed a cooperation agreement to support the Nearshoring America project, an initiative with its main goal to provide alternative sourcing opportunities from Brazil to the more than 2000 Dallas Market Center wholesale importers. Led by Dallas Market Center President and CEO Cindy Morris and Nearshoring America Director Michael Mendoza, Nearshoring America has three pillars to its strategy: (1) Create a Registry of Qualified and Vetted Manufacturers, (2) Seek Suppliers for New Product Initiatives, and (3) Promote the Nearshoring America Expo to be held annually at the Dallas Market Center, with its kick-off on December 9-11, 2024. The target sectors for Nearshoring America include country/western, mens’/womens’/kids’ fashion, footwear, furniture, giftware, home décor, jewelry, lighting, stationery, tableware, and toys. With CISBRA President Paulo Protasio having signed the agreement beforehand, DMC President and CEO Cindy Morris signed on behalf of Dallas Market Center with Michael Mendoza and I signing as witnesses during an ENCOMEX 2024 panel on Nearshoring moderated by CISBRA Vice-President Ricardo Costa and counting on the brilliant presentations of Josefina Guedes, Founder of GBI International Consulting and Director of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Association and Roberto Giannetti da Fonseca, President of Kaduna Consulting, former International Director of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo and former Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Federal Government’s Chamber of Foreign Trade.
