What's there in a story?
Everything!
As a sports industry professional passionate about digital content, storytelling has been my 'excelente ejemplo' whenever someone asks me or discusses it. Authentic stories coupled with powerful storytelling narrative brings a stronger bond with the audience. And when it comes to sports organizations, the impact they can have on their fans and the kind of closeness they bring is tremendous.
Recently, I stumbled upon a four-part series created by the content team at Brentford Football Club, titled 'Thousands of Stories', which focused on stories of the club's people. The idea struck at the core of what every football club should prioritize - its people- inside and outside. Even the tagline oozes class and what the club wants to convey - " Brentford FC is made of thousands of stories, and they each matter".
Each story, ranging from the manager, and senior club officials, to the pitch announcer, covered a variety of topics that we deal with in our daily lives. The videos discuss mental & and physical health, equal opportunities for women and minorities, and how each of those Brentford people interacts with the community and becomes the voice of the club.
In this digital era, anyone can create content. Every club can create interviews, player journeys, or live streams. But to stand out and to create something that shouts the core idea of what football or any sport depends on - the people - is brilliant. And, I believe, Brentford has done something special with this.
