Marketing Manager w/ 10 years across all aspects of marketing | Influencer marketing, social media, public relations, content creation, and community management. I've done it all and love it all.
👉 Make sure you are letting your kids be their own nerd, not the nerd you want them to be. 👈 I wanted to share some thoughts that have been on my mind recently. As many of you know, I’m deeply immersed in the world of anime, comics, and gaming. It’s a passion that I usually keep separate from my professional life, but today, I feel compelled to bridge that gap. I’ve been reflecting on the importance of allowing the younger generation to explore their own interests and passions, particularly in the realm of geek culture. It’s crucial that we let them be their own kind of nerd, not the kind we might want them to be. I recently posted a video on my YouTube channel - a platform I don’t often talk about here. The video discusses the issue of gatekeeping in nerd culture. This phenomenon not only alienates new fans but also has the potential to disenfranchise the next generation of enthusiasts. The future of gaming, and indeed all aspects of geek culture, lies in a post-modern, generational approach. This perspective, which is already gaining traction, encourages inclusivity and diversity in our shared spaces. Let’s strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome to express their passion, whether they’re a veteran gamer or a newcomer to the world of anime. After all, our shared love for these mediums is what unites us. Thank you for taking the time to read this. As always, I’m eager to hear your thoughts and engage in meaningful discussions. Stay passionate, stay curious, and most importantly, stay kind. https://lnkd.in/gsZNYtac #gamingindustry #gamingcommunity #contentmarketing #contentcreation #influencermarketing #diversityintech #diversityingaming #gamedev #opentowork #videogames #anime #comicbooks #momlife #dadlife #parentingadvice #parenthood

Latest issue of Kidscreen (page 48 - 51) "Cummings sees endless possibilities for virtual pets. 'Imagine a future where the whole family is wearing digital glasses...your pet is off playing with your kids in the other room, and then it will come and tell you when it's hungry. The technology is already in place that will entirely transform the robust #petindustry. It will be seamless, and that is what we want. We are really looking to blur that line.'" https://lnkd.in/ds9W7tqt

The FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) build season is kicking off today! For geeks (we are a group of proud geeks too!) the game intro starts at 25:24. But I invite you to watch the segments talk about FIRST alumni, the impact award, and many other things on how this program develops future talents. Especially for visionary business leaders, we know that if we fail to inspire students in math and science in middle schools then the chance of them becoming engineers drops. As our future becomes that we will either work on robots or work with robots, the shortage of engineers will become a big problem for society. This video says way better than we can and, seeing is believing, you are invited to visit Queen City Robotics Alliance to see for yourself. This year's theme CRESCENDO highlights STEAM. For real, a good science is an art and arts build on science. We are glad that we have many partners and sponsors. I want to use this opportunity to shout out to two of our friends in Arts: Ashley Maria (Pioneers in Skirts) and Arts & Science Council. Thinking of you guys and for many more years of #Arts and #Science collaborations in the future. #steam #stem #stemeducation #robotics #engineering

Here’s a brilliant example of project based learning by James May. Leading a group of secondary aged school children to build a 1 :1 life size scale of a spitfire in 2009 It’s interesting how he’s developed there interest with the project by engaging them on relevant to the subject school trips. Despite professionals warning James that it’s impossible he still managed to achieve an amazing finished piece. If you have time watch the show. #projectbasedlearning #developingteamework

Children learn through repetition Children have a lot to learn about themselves and the world. A big part of the way they do this is through repetition. This applies to learning to walk, talk and read. But it can also be said for TV shows, movies and video games with a storyline such as Stardew Valley. Children may start by learning about the plot. On subsequent viewings they may pick up more details about the characters, the songs, the context or even the subtle twists and turns of the plot. So this offers children insights into different characters, stories and ideas. These different perspectives offer valuable opportunities for learning about people and the world. A great article for those with children or grandchildren #childrenswellbeing #education #learning #repetition #tv #parenting https://lnkd.in/gA8S4VkR
