Happy birthday, ALK! 🎉 With new ambitious aspirations just launched, we are ready to enter the next decade of helping people with allergies.  Founded by doctor Kaj Baagøe and pharmacist Peter Barfod on 9 June in 1923, ALK has a strong heritage of leading the way in long-term allergy treatment. It is based on this legacy that we now proceed into the next decade with a mission to do more. With our new strategy, Allergy+, we aim to help more people, with more solutions, more effectively.  Allergy is the most common chronic disease globally and has immense impact on people’s lives. More than 500 million people worldwide live with respiratory allergies, more than 200 million people have some sort of food allergy, and more than 100 million children are living with allergic rhinitis. These numbers are only expected to increase, creating a growing need for allergy solutions. “A randomized trial demonstrated consumption of peanut from infancy to age 5 years prevented the development of peanut allergy. An extension of that trial demonstrated the effect persisted after 1 year of peanut avoidance.” A trial and follow-up trial on adolescence after early peanut introduction for allergy prevention showed that food allergy long-term prevention and tolerance can be achieved. Daily article sharing~ Read it at https://lnkd.in/g7BUfCdR 👀 A Case Report Clinical responses and relapses in omalizumab-assisted desensitization to food in children: long-term evolution in real life #Omalizumab, #desensitization, #children, #food allergy, #induction of oral tolerance Allergy to milk and egg does not always disappear spontaneously and desensitization (DSZ) or oral tolerance induction can change its natural course. In severe allergy, DSZ can provide protection against accidental food ingestion and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. However, DSZ is not risk-free; frequent reactions appear, especially in children with severe allergy. These patients are the ones who could benefit the most from this procedure, but, if they do not tolerate it, they remain at risk of severe, even fatal, reactions. Omalizumab (OMZ) is currently approved for severe asthma and chronic urticaria, but its off-label use has been evaluated to improve safety and shorten the DSZ procedure. The first report of symptom recurrence after drug discontinuation in three children who had undergone OMZ-assisted DSZ was published in 2014. In this manuscript a longer follow-up of the clinical course of this approach, under real-life conditions, in a larger series of children with severe allergy is reported.

We had the pleasure of meeting esteemed professionals and potential clients from various hospitals and collaborative partners 🎤Keynote speakers such as Dirk Verhoeven and Ted Klok sparked engaging discussions on crucial topics like food allergy prevention and the readiness of the Netherlands for child oral immunotherapy. 🥜One key takeaway? There's still much to be explored and accomplished in the realm of pediatric allergies. Current research offers hope for better prevention and treatment methods for our Minis. 🌟A highlight? An impromptu expert discussion around our stand, where key decision-makers in the field exchanged valuable insights! ➡️Moving forward, we're committed to adding even more value with our products, with plans to expand our range to cover more allergens.
