WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER EVEN BEFORE HIRING YOUR BUILDER OR CONTRACTOR? Because a trained pair of eyes will see things that most builders or contractors are guaranteed to miss. See the photos on the comments section. 🤦🏻♀️ I was brought into this project very late and unfortunately, there are a lot of costly mistakes that have been made before my involvement. Now, the builder has to rip off the ceilings and fix all the window treatment pocket sizes. This is a costly mistake that will also delay the project. I wish I had been involved much earlier and caught these mistakes at an earlier stage. When you hire us, with my regular site visits we will address any challenges which might arise during the process, and we’ll ensure builders and contractors execute according to our plan. Please remember, that incredible interior design doesn’t happen by chance. It requires very detailed planning. Let’s discuss your project if you are getting ready to build a custom home or getting ready for a large-scale renovation. Currently, we are booking and kicking off full-service, projects for March 2023 so you can plan now and book your project with us! It all starts with a discovery call. ☎️ How to schedule a discovery call? It’s easy. Just click on the link in the below to schedule a Complimentary Discovery Call with me! 📞Talk to you soon. https://lnkd.in/eNYkMYaS

As a Project Manager, how much money has come out of your contingency budget because of an incorrect furniture item? As a Facility Manager, how many times has your project been delayed due to a furniture mis-specification or mis-sing part? Here's the thing... A technical audit of a FF&E package or your furniture order is one of the most important practices to implement. Its one of the best (and small) investments you can make in any furniture project. This is true whether you are an: interior designer, facility manager, general contractor, or dealer designer. PS In the first 6 months of 2024, our bad-a$$ spec team caught $1.1 million in spec errors through our unique technical QA/QC process. That's more than ONE MILLION DOLLARS! How much $$$ and time can we save you? #kimikodesigns #specification #audit #commercialfurniture #furniturenerds

I had so much fun talking all things interior design vs architecture at Grand Designs Live with the British Institute of Interior Design and a panel of amazing interior designers. The question - Who should I hire for my project? An architect, an interior designer or a TEAM?! As the industry shifts and evolves (which I am completely here for!) the lines can become a little blurred. We delved into all aspects of the project - from obtaining planning permission to hanging curtains - and talked our audience through the roles and responsibilities of different design professionals. We chatted for an hour non-stop but an audience member grabbed me immediately afterwards with the same question.... "The talk was great... but who should I hire first?" I get it. It's confusing. This is the simplest way to guide your decision. "My project requires planning permission, structural changes or will be a new build" = hire an architect and an interior designer. "My project requires interior reconfiguration, technical design such as for the kitchen, bathrooms, joinery details and bespoke elements" = hire an interior architect / interior designer. "My project requires some new soft furnishings, redecoration and restyling" = hire an interior decorator (or an interior designer). The conclusion? You interior designer is probably the most 'fluid' trade on your project. They will talk directly with contractors, suppliers and everybody in between. In most cases - an interior designer will elevate your project and has the technical knowledge and expertise to bridge the gaps. If you were building your dream home... who would you hire first?

Who are the key people you need while building a custom home? 1. Architect - The architect is the visionary who can put your ideas and thoughts into a constructible plan. They will discuss how you will use your home and what you want the overall look of the home to be. 2. Engineer - The engineer will take the architect’s plan and design the structural components and foundation system. 3. Interior Designer - The interior designer performs interior space layout and specifies the finishes of the home. They design the overall mood of the home. 4. Builder - The builder orchestrates the entire build process. They take the architectural, structural, and interior design plans and bring them to reality. They coordinate the ordering of materials and the installation of those materials.

I want to take a moment to emphasize the significance of engaging a professional builder when it comes to building interior finishes. Whether you are constructing a new property or renovating an existing one, the expertise and skills of a professional builder can make a substantial difference in achieving a successful outcome. Building interior finishes encompass a wide range of elements, including flooring, wall treatments, ceilings, cabinetry, fixtures, and more. These finishes play a vital role in enhancing the aesthetics, functionality, and overall appeal of a building's interior spaces. Here are a few key reasons why involving a professional builder is essential in this process: 1. Expertise and Knowledge: Professional builders possess extensive knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and design trends. They stay updated with the latest industry standards and best practices, ensuring that your interior finishes meet high-quality standards while complying with relevant regulations. 2. Design and Planning: A professional builder can collaborate with architects, interior designers, and other stakeholders to translate your vision into a cohesive plan. They can provide valuable input regarding space utilization, material selection, color schemes, and finishes, ensuring a harmonious and functional design that aligns with your preferences and requirements. 3. Skillful Execution: Proper execution of interior finishes requires precision and attention to detail. Professional builders have the experience and skill set to handle various tasks, such as installing flooring, wall treatments, trim work, and intricate finishes. Their expertise ensures that these elements are installed correctly, enhancing durability and minimizing the likelihood of future issues. 4. Time and Cost Efficiency: Engaging a professional builder can help you save time and money in the long run. They can accurately estimate project timelines, coordinate subcontractors, procure materials, and manage the construction process efficiently. By avoiding mistakes and ensuring a streamlined workflow, they minimize costly delays and rework, ultimately saving you resources. 5. Quality Assurance: Professional builders focus on delivering high-quality results. They have access to reliable suppliers and can source superior materials, ensuring that your interior finishes are durable, long-lasting, and visually appealing. Their attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship contribute to the overall quality of the project. When it comes to building interior finishes, enlisting the services of a professional builder is highly recommended. Their expertise, knowledge, and meticulous execution can elevate the aesthetic appeal, functionality, and value of your property. By partnering with a professional, you can expect a seamless construction process, exceptional workmanship, and peace of mind. #Mastermind #builder #construction
