For many of us, career searching can feel like navigating through a storm without a map or GPS, in pitch black with broken glasses in hand upon seeing light. When faced with setbacks, it's essential to focus on the lessons learned rather than dwelling on the losses. Remember to embrace those losses and experiences, and use them to fuel us for future growth. We’ve got this! Inspired by #KimGarst #CareerSearch #PersonalGrowth #Resilience

CEO, Founder | Coach | Investor Talent Advisory 💡 Things I know and care a lot about: Building Relationships, Interviewing, Hiring, Career and Job Change, Salary Negotiation
Word of the Day 😎 LANGUISHING: "failing to make progress or be successful, emptiness and stagnation, constituting a life of quiet despair...” If you're languishing in the job market right now, you're in excellent company. There are tens of thousands of really smart, exceptionally talented people looking for a new job right along with you. In this considerably competitive job market, it's time to get creative and curious in order to crush your job search strategy. Step 1: See a great job opportunity online. (Do NOT click Easy Apply) Step 2: Find the company on LinkedIn and identify whether you have any mutual connections or second connections to employees there. (Do not click Easy Apply) Step 3: Reach out to those connections in a passive way that doesn't mention you're looking to apply for a job there. Step 4: Schedule 15min to talk to this person/these people and ask them about their role and the company. Step 4.5: Make a mental note of any way you could possibly bring them value (ie; podcast or book they should read, event they should attend, person in your network they should meet.) Step 5: Ask them for advice on the company like this: "I'm considering my career options and have heard great things about X company. What's your advice on learning more about how the Y team operates? Do you know anyone on that team that I should meet?" Step 6: Make a note on your calendar to check in with them (in a friendly way) in a few weeks and move on to the next contact. Applying online is only one component of a great job search strategy. The best jobs are found through relationships. The best way to build relationships is by being curious and service minded. The best time to build relationships is when you don't need a favor. Start today. Raven Road Partners _____________________ I'm Debi and I help people get clarity on their career direction, develop a compelling career narrative, and land their dream jobs. For a little light-heartedness... 🐾🌏 Happy World Otter Day! 🌏🐾 Today, we celebrate these charming and clever creatures who have a lot to teach us. Did you know otters hold hands while sleeping to stay connected and avoid drifting apart? It's a beautiful reminder of the power of connection and support. In today's challenging job market, we can learn a lot from otters. Let's hold each other's hands, metaphorically, by supporting, encouraging, and uplifting one another. Whether it's sharing job leads, offering a kind word, or providing mentorship, every little bit helps. I would like to personally thank Greg J Gilbertsen Jr. and The Gilbertsen Group- The People Company for the support they've given me through my struggles in this crazy market. They are a wonderful team and really helped me prep, and get my stuff together. Please connect with them or myself if you need help in your career search! Together, we can navigate these turbulent times and come out stronger. Let's embody the spirit of the otter and ensure no one drifts away in the current. #WorldOtterDay #SupportEachOther #JobMarket #StayConnected #CommunitySupport #TogetherWeAreStronger

In between the 17 miles of hiking we did this weekend to try and get Machu Picchu ready I managed to finish book 7. The Squiggly Career has tons of great content. While I got some excellent ideas for our upcoming career event and I know Victoria McHugh has also been scouring her copy for insight and inspiriation. I also had many take aways to use in my own squiggly career. 1. To not only reflect on my strengths but to take time to understand what role my values had in driving my experiences. 2. The networking mapping exercise to catergories and analyse the strengths and gaps will be something I complete regularly and showed I had some imbalances. 3. It reminded me nurture existing relationships within my network and regularly consider what I contribute to those. 4. I particularly liked the simple feedback model want went well / even better if. Lastly I plan to revisit the book in 6 months to recomplete and reflect on my personal growth. It also gave me some great books to add to growing learning pile. #bookreview #personaldevelopment #squigglycareers #helentupper #sarahellis
