It takes around $60,000 to train a seeing-eye dog but only $50 to provide surgery that can reverse Trachoma, a disease leading to blindness. We know a lot more people willing to donate $50 than $60k. See why JD Bauman believes in having a strategy behind your giving to make it the most effective it can be, and help vet the organizations using funds most effectively. With the same amount needed to train a single guide dog, we can help a thousand individuals see again. Learn more about creating your effective giving strategy➡️ https://pod.co/all-access

Numbers that scare me: 4. Only about 4% of those eligible to donate blood in Canada do so. A bit of context around why this number is startlingly low: - It takes up to 5 donations to support a patient undergoing heart surgery - It can take up to 50 donations to save someone seriously injured in a car accident - Someone going through treatment for luekeimia requires up to 8 donations… per week. You get the idea - we can do better than 4%. I closed out a trip home with a trip to Canadian Blood Services for lifetime donation #180. There is a certain magic to donating blood, literally offering up a part of yourself not knowing who might benefit from it. There is something tangible and beautiful about the process. It’s been encouraging to see updates to donor eligibility criteria updated over the past several months to expand the range of eligible donors - if you weren’t previously eligible it might be worth checking in to see if you are now. If you are looking to close out 2023 on a hopeful note, I’d encourage to hop in to donate or make plans to do so in 2024.

Every three minutes a child is born somewhere in the world with a cleft condition. In first-world countries, corrective surgery is usually done within the first 18 months of life. In Southern Africa, where safe surgery is not always freely available or accessible, a child may have to wait years for the chance to live a normal life. Depending on the severity, cleft conditions can be repaired in just 45 minutes. Your donation makes new smiles possible. Did you know? Babies born with cleft may be unable to feed properly, and may suffer from malnutrition and thirst. The risk of death is nine times higher for these children. New CSC Blog Post: "For those who need it most.." A commentary on her experience from one of our volunteers, Isabella, who just finished spending 3 months at CSC. I spent the past three months at CSC and loved every aspect of my experience. From sitting in on the morning meetings, doing rounds, observing the consults, and watching surgeries, there was never a dull moment. CSC provides crucial healthcare to those who need it the most. During my time at CSC, every surgery I witnessed was life-changing for the patients, whether it be an orthopaedic, plastic, or ENT surgery. The collaborative and supportive environment at CSC makes anyone feel welcome, regardless of whether you have a medical background. As a non-medic myself, one of my biggest worries before arriving at CSC was: "what is my purpose here? Will I understand any of the medical lingo?" While at times it was more difficult to follow step-by-step the procedures being carried out, both the foreign and Khmer staff were eager to help me understand what was happening on the O.R. and what results we were hoping to achieve from the surgeries. I was able to make great friends among the staff and excited to continue following the incredible work that CSC carries out. While my time in Cambodia may be over, I am hoping I will be able to continue contributing to CSC's vital work by encouraging people to donate to CSC, as CSC's donation platform is so unique and personalized. Becoming a CSC member and donating allows you to have full transparency on how your donation is being utilized. This includes information about the specific patient your donation is being used for, the surgery it is funding, why this procedure is necessary for the patient, and what the anticipated outcome of the surgery is. Being a part of the CSC community has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and so I really hope you consider donating! Today is GivingTuesday, the world’s largest generosity movement. Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts. Today only, CanadaHelps will automatically add an additional 1% top-up to every donation made. Today is your opportunity to increase your impact substantially and support the Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation in our ambitious goal of raising substantial funds for updated equipment in the Canmore General Hospital's two surgical suites. Medical equipment is the lifeblood of any hospital, and its importance cannot be overstated. It allows our healthcare professionals to provide timely, accurate, and compassionate care that ultimately saves lives. With advancements in technology and the addition of new surgeons to Canmore General Hospital, updated equipment in the surgical suites is essential. The cost is estimated at just under $100,000.00+ and will include a range of critical medical equipment, including cameras, telescopes, monitors, resectoscopes, hysteroscopes, and laparoscopic scissors, among others. These tools are vital for precise medical procedures, especially in gynecology and general surgery, ultimately improving patient outcomes and the quality of care. If you've been considering donating, today is the perfect opportunity. Please direct your donations to our Equipment fund to support the purchase of life-saving equipment for our Operating Rooms. https://lnkd.in/gcADMQ8c

Want to keep your donors engaged? 👉 Check in. 👉 Ask how they are doing. 👉 Be personable. “How is Sophia? Has she picked her college major?” “How is your dad feeling after his surgery?” “Happy belated birthday! Did you have fun celebrating with your family?” Don’t forget what was said. Take notes and add them to your database. Set reminders to follow up once a month. Meaningful conversations strengthen relationships. #MindfulMoment #ExecutiveCoaching #eoyappeal #endofyearappeal #endofyearcampaign #consulting #nonprofitconsulting #nonprofitconsultant #nonprofit #nonprofitfundraising #fundraising #communications #philanthropy #dyk #womanownedbusiness #businessowner #drummerconsulting

🕊 Acts of kindness can make a big difference in the world! That's why we've teamed up with the UA Responders Foundation to raise funds to purchase a surgical aspirator. Why are we focusing on surgical aspirators? These devices are crucial in surgery, as they help doctors by clearing fluids and substances from the surgical area, making it easier to see what they're doing. This lowers the risk of infections and complications and improves the overall outcome of surgeries. By joining us in this effort, you're helping hospitals get the necessary equipment to provide better medical care. Our aim is $1000 or 40,000 UAH which will allow us to purchase one aspirator. It's possible for us, right? Even the slightest donation can save lives 🙌🏻 Make your donation: https://lnkd.in/d8H9z-KU #StandWithUkraine
