We are pleased to share insights from the recent report by Enrico Letta titled "Much More Than a Market," which underscores the necessity of enhancing the European Union Single Market for sustainable and prosperous mobility across Europe. The report, commissioned by the European Council, calls for urgent action to boost Europe's competitiveness through speed, security, and solidarity. It highlights the vital role of the Single Market in supporting the transport sector by facilitating the free movement of people, goods, and services, thus promoting economic integration and competitiveness. 💡 What does the Single Market mean for sustainable transport?  The transport sector enhances the Single Market by enabling free movement and economic integration. Goals include developing the Trans-European Network of Transport (TEN-T) and a high-speed rail network. The new TEN-T regulation approved last week aims for seamless, sustainable transport across Europe, maintaining freedom of movement. 💡 How does the report align with STRING's views?  The report supports STRING's call for more public funding of infrastructure, better EU financial frameworks, and private investments. [UIC General Assembly] François DAVENNE highlights UIC's solid value perception and notable milestones. The More Trains campaign and the study “Bridging the Rail Finance Gap” underscore UIC's proactive approach to industry challenges. UIC's commitment to global railway standards and innovation is evident in the delivery of FRMCS V2 drafts and the coordination of the MORANE 2 testing program. The organization's influence extends globally, with intensified standardization efforts in the Asia-Pacific Region and the successful UIC digital conference in Yaoundé. Looking forward, UIC is preparing for the World Congress on High-Speed Rail in Beijing 2025, anticipating broad participation and fostering technical advancements and partnerships. Regional empowerment is a key focus, with the establishment of Regional Competence Hubs and strategic partnerships with the African Union and African Development Bank Group. The OSCE project does not only support the establishment of a Trans-Caspian Transport corridor that multimodally, securely and efficiently moves goods and peoples, but also bolsters the inclusive economic and sustainable development  of Caspian and Black Sea regions. #ConnectEurope and Asia #Digitalization #Connectivity   Since 2019, BTO has been providing project management and consulting services to the OSCE on the Promoting Green Ports and Connectivity Project. The project aims to: ·      Implement green ports’ principles as best practices in selected stakeholder Ports in the Caspian and Black Sea region, #GreenPorts ·      Ensure secure, smart and sustainable connectivity, ·      And contribute to women’s increased economic participation in the energy, logistics and transport sectors.   Within the project some of our achievements include: #EcoPortsSLC #TRACECA   1)   Assisting the beneficiary Caspian and Black Sea ports to achieve EcoPorts certification;   2)   Establishing a regional community of green ports and trade and transport stakeholders willing to work together towards frictionless and sustainable transport links, which included organizing three field study trips to leading EU green ports to facilitate best practices exchange and foster inter-port communities;   3)   Supported the development of a prototype trade data exchange platform to enable multilateral trade data exchange, thereby reducing transit costs and time.   This is a pivotal time; the announcement of 10 Billion Euro commitment to invest in the Trans Caspian Transport Corridor at the end of January 2024 underlies the growing importance of our efforts in developing the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, and its potential for economic development, increase of security, decarbonization and connectivity.   We are excited to continue working with the OSCE and making a meaningful contribution to the Trans Caspian Transport Corridor.
