Today, Pictet Group presented its Annual Review for 2023, a look back over the past year in which Pictet affirmed its stability against a backdrop of turmoil in some parts of the banking sector and continued geopolitical upheaval. The Annual Review also provides a lens on how we see the future, to which Renaud de Planta, Senior Manager Partner said: “When Marc Pictet assumes the role of Senior Partner, he will chair a Partnership that is as dynamic and diverse as it has ever been, while sharing the sense of responsibility and attention to detail that have defined us for over two centuries. This combination gives me confidence that Pictet will continue to stand apart, never striving to be the biggest, but always the finest.” Read the Annual Review here: https://lnkd.in/ejc4G87M #AnnualReview

Sanjay Guglani, Founder & CIO, Silverdale Funds, at Asia Risk Congress 2023 Dear Friends, We are delighted to share that Mr. Sanjay Guglani, Founder & CIO, Silverdale Funds moderated the panel on “Risk inventory: What are the lessons learnt in 2023?” at the Asia Risk Congress 2023. The discussion started with repercussions of a twentyfold increase in interest rates during 2022, leading to economic vulnerabilities that manifested second, third, and fourth largest bank failure in US, and Credit Suisse across the Atlantic. The panel's discerning analysis unearthed two risks overhang: the potential termination of yield curve control by Japan, and the challenges posed by the shadow banking sector. It touched upon use of quantitative risk modelling to manage evolving financial risks. Notably, the panel highlighted that climate change is no longer a distant concern but an immediate reality. It emphasized the need for standardized and rigorously enforced disclosure standards to foster accountability and accurately quantify environmental impact. The panel's discussions resonated strongly with the audience, and we extend our gratitude to fellow panelists Nageswara Ganduri (CRISIL), Shivkumar Mahadevan (Std Cht), Nishank Srivastava (UBS), and the organizer Peter Young and his team at Risk.net, for an excellent event. #riskmanagement #riskmodelling #financialrisks #fixedincome #emergingmarkets

The last couple of years have been tough for dealmaking, but in a new report, thematic research analysts Luke Templeman and Galina Pozdnyakova discuss why things are looking up for M&A in 2024. Valuation dislocations, greater certainty in the financing backdrop, and structural headwinds to organic profit growth for large firms are the three key themes they believe will catalyse an M&A recovery in 2024. ▶ Read more in the one-page summary of the report below.
