The functional medicine model stands apart because it is a highly individualized, patient-centred, and science-based approach. It empowers patients and practitioners to work together to promote optimal wellness by addressing the underlying causes of disease. This model enables detailed understanding of each patient’s physiology, which is essential to creating personalized treatment plans that result in better patient outcomes. We don’t focus on symptoms – we focus on the root cause so we can address the complexity of the disease. This approach is critical, since one condition can have many causes, and one cause might result in different conditions. A functional approach to medicine is highly effective because it targets the source of disease in our patients. Visit vennmed.com to book your discovery call today and stop searching. Find health. 🩺

Yesterday I had the opportunity to present at the pain journal club hosted by the PRIME Lab, discussing "Through the Lens of Movement-Evoked Pain: A Theoretical Framework of the 'Pain-Movement Interface' to Guide Research and Clinical Care for Musculoskeletal Pain Conditions" by Butera et al. (2024). This paper explores the relationship between movement and pain, proposing a comprehensive theoretical framework to guide both research and clinical care for those suffering from musculoskeletal pain. It highlights the importance of considering movement-evoked pain when developing treatment plans. Check out the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/gNipi_Tf Presenting this research was a valuable experience, and I'm grateful for the insights and discussions that followed. Looking forward to contributing more to pain research! 👩🔬 🧠 #painresearch #movementevokedpain #musculoskeletalpain
