Some people have you at hello. Mita had me at ‘podcast’. It was late December when she DMed me. In her conversational and uplifting writing style, she shared an idea about a podcast she was birthing. “I'm in the (exciting and a bit daunting) process of launching my very first podcast. It's dedicated to deep, insightful conversations with marketing leaders about their career journeys”, she said. And that’s it. A month later, we recorded for the inaugural season of the pod, overshooting the recording by a full 30-min as we went deep into the nitty gritties of building a successful career in marketing. That this was my first podcast on 'marketing career' was exciting. But what surprised me even more was how seamlessly Mita was able to cull out the hidden nuggets of my career journey. Unafraid to double click on the psyche behind decision-making and the behind-the-scenes lead up to pivotal career moments, she gave me a chance reflect upon my work experience in a way I never had. I don't view this as marketing advice. It's a candid reflection of my 15+ year journey from Copywriter to Solopreneur. Yes, the pod took more than anticipated post-production time.
