Is climate change a communications challenge? In part, absolutely. This is what Helen Dodd, Head of Sustainability at Instinctif Partners, asked me when we caught up for the Instinctif Talks podcast. Some take aways from our conversation: 🕸 We underestimate how much complexity people can absorb. When we lose the nuance, we risk losing trust. ⚡ Communications professionals have a hard role to play, but one with huge power. Does your work help people feel part of a bigger whole, or like individualised consumers? Are you discerning about the clients you choose, or are you at risk of turning up on Clean Creatives F-List? 🤸♀️ Because climate change touches everything – social, economic, political, technological – it means that we need roles for everyone. How do we mobilise everyone and the vast richness of skills, passions and positions of influence into this mega transition? We covered narratives, greenwashing and green hushing (a term I recently found out was coined by Sami Grover!), psychological barriers, and the recent collaboration between Ashoka and Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, The Climate Changemaker Playbook. 🎧 Listen now: https://lnkd.in/eKu6Ku8h #climate #greenwashing #narratives #podcastepisode #changemakers
