Life Sciences industry: Best Places to work Interesting reading from BioSpace's 2024 Best Places to Work list, which features 60 U.S.-based employers in the life sciences industry, emphasising the significance of prioritizing staff well-being, culture, and long-term success. This is something that the candidates we work with are highlighting more and more as the most important aspect of deciding where they would like to work. For the third year in a row, Moderna leads the large employers category, particularly excelling in innovation. The top five large employers also include Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, Eli Lilly and Company, and Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. In the small employers category, Tessera Therapeutics stands out for its genome engineering technology, strong culture, diversity, equity, inclusion, and leadership. The top five small employers include Poseida Therapeutics, Inc., Sana Biotechnology, Inc., AnaptysBio, and Eikon Therapeutics. A common thread among these companies is their dedication to employee-centric values. Achieving recognition as a Best Place to Work not only acknowledges their commitment but also strengthens their attractiveness to top talent in the industry. It's great to see the names of some organisations that as a business RBW Consulting knows very well and have partnered with previously. #BestPlacesToWork #LifeSciences

We're pleased to share some news from Digital, Science and Innovation @ Novo Nordisk. We're introducing an open-source software tool called Brownie Bee 🐝. This tool is a reflection of our ongoing efforts to foster innovation and collaboration, and we're looking forward to sharing it with our colleagues across R&ED and the rest of our organization. Brownie Bee is a straightforward graphical interface for advanced Bayesian Optimization. It's designed to make advanced machine learning more accessible, enabling users to optimize any process, even without pre-existing data or coding knowledge. This project is a collaboration between Novo Nordisk, Danish Technological Institute, and Alexandra Instituttet, with support from the Industriens Fond. We're proud of the teamwork that went into creating this tool and are interested to see how it will continue to add value to our work. For our internal Novo Nordisk colleagues, you can access our newly installed version of Brownie Bee. For the rest of the world, we invite you to explore and utilize this tool at browniebee.io. Let's continue to work together to innovate and optimize. 🚀 #NovoNordisk #BrownieBee #MachineLearning #BayesianOptimization #OpenSource #Innovation

After a one-year experience at Pfizer, Romy Deboyser joined CONSULTYS BENELUX in November 2023. As Romy was not fixed yet about which direction giving to her career, she decided to explore consultancy to get to know herself better. For her first assignment, Romy brought support to Qualiphar NV as a Quality Engineer: “As Qualiphar is a family company, I benefited from a very diverse experience, getting to work on several topics and get in touch with several department which helped me to learn a lot.” While Romy was working on this project, our Life Sciences Business Managers were already working on finding another project, more scientific oriented: “During the recruitment process, we discussed about my willingness to explore more scientific projects and we agreed to put me in a first mission until we found the perfect project for me. After only 6 months at Qualiphar, I was assigned on a new project at UCB as a Lab Scientist which was clearly answering the expectations that were set up during the process. I am really happy about the fact that we discussed in a very transparent way with the business managers and got to work together in finding this new project: the relationship is very fluid, and we can trust each other’s.” This new project also brought new implications into her experience as a Consultys’ employee: “We have a huge team of consultants at UCB, and I am actually working with another Consultys’ employee in the same team. Moreover, the team manager structure that was set up by Consultys enables a better collaboration between different departments where Consultys is involved, fostering communication and information sharing.” Romy’s project will last long, as she’ll be working on it at least until the end of the year. We’re confident about her success in this position! #VulcainEngineering #Consultys #LifeScience #Laboratory #GrowthAndDevelopment

Last week, I had the privilege of connecting with our brilliant Novo Nordisk Graduate Fellows from all over the world about their future career journey. I was blown away by the passion and innovation in the room, inspired knowing the future of healthcare is in great hands! Career journey advice I shared: 1. Self-add “Infuse humanity, kindness, and decency” as a mandate into every single job description you take on 2. Ikigai: Build your career not around titles, but around attaining convergence to your ikigai (learning ikigai was their homework) 3. Take the harder assignments — you’ll learn more because you’ll be out of your comfort zone 4. Oscillate between Strategy and Operational roles — build both complementary leadership muscles (even if you prefer one). Too long in Strategy, you’ll live in the clouds. Too long in Operations, you’ll miss the forest for the trees. 5. Stay on the innovation edge thru a mindset of “how might we”, not “how have we” 6. Today earns your tomorrow. You earn your future opportunities every day in every role through the impact you make. SHARE in comments below to let these rising stars tap into the collective wisdom of my LinkedIn community — What ONE advice would you give these future leaders of healthcare? Stephen C. Trusted Advisor for Global Executive Management, Global Project Management, Global Scientific & Global Medical Directors | Own Career: Co-developer of Fiasp®, NovoEight®, Esperoct® & Sogroya® | CEO
This post will not be long, as it is merely about a thank you. But a profound one. Today represents the final day of the first half of 2024 and what a first half this has been and today finalising yet a contract with a seasoned CEO in the pharmaceutical industry. And this calls for a thank you to my network. As this specific client and I geografically never would have crossed paths unless common connections discretely had referred to my services. And today after a highly inspiring initial meeting, we will after the summer initiate on a multiple target journey together in a phase targeting next level treatment within multiple servere disease areas. A journey that would never had been initiated without the referrel by network. When I a few years back officially introduced my services in the industry, it was a new way of thinking providing such contractual safe space in high impact phases for capacities with daily high impact responsibilities. Responsibilities for patients’ lives, patients’ treatments, and patient care. A service having it’s outset in elite sports more than 30 years ago and throughout all the years constantly being finetuned within clinical context, drug development, top level science, and organisational understanding with global impact. Therefore, this post serves as an appreciative and recognising post to my entire network, whom have been part of building this. Wherever you may be around the Globe today, I wish you the very best with your endeavours, an inspiring journey, and for leisure time happy summer holidays. Twenty-five years ago today I started my career at Eli Lilly and Company. At one firm, I’ve had nine different roles, as a leader or individual contributor. Every position has been an incredible experience whether creating batch control systems, developing novel delivery devices, producing Lilly’s first external innovation challenge, interacting with startups, or founding the organization that created an entirely-new class of product for Lilly: Software as a Medical Device. There were very few cake walks and often huge challenges, especially when driving change within a 148-year-old pharmaceutical company, but every job was worth it. As you can read in books, articles, or case studies, the people in an organization make the difference. At Lilly this is so true. I’ve never been anywhere that has the customer as such a focus, and this is exemplified by the company’s purpose: “Lilly unites caring with discovery to create medicines that make life better for people around the world.” I’ve learned so much from the brightest people, not only how to develop and manufacture drugs and medical devices, but also in understanding diseases and healthcare ecosystem dynamics. I’ve had opportunities to work for and be mentored by great leaders within an incredible corporate culture. I’ve also had opportunities to connect and engage with amazing industry thought leaders in pharma and digital health. But my biggest joy has been in coaching or mentoring people. Nothing is better than helping others grow and succeed, and everything is better when you work with the best people. Twenty-five years seems to have flown by.

Managing Director | Offshore Integrated Pharma Brand Insights - CI, FC, BA & MR | Ex-Novartis | Ex-GSK | Ex-Bayer
Our mistakes and failures are the biggest teachers. Deep inside everyone know the ugliest reason for their setback and failures. I am sharing the visiting card (all contact details are inactive or doesnt belong to me). I, along with my two friends, started PharmaTree in 2011 with a vision to bridge the skill gap between students and industry. We closed the first venture after a year of hustle and moved back to our corporate jobs. Key learnings: - I wasn’t ready for the role and responsibility - The macro environment was not suitable. Internet speed, virtual connectivity and offshore pharma business services were taking shape. Even buidling a website was a hurcules task. - Merely having a vision or good purpose isnt enough. One also need necessary business understanding to avoid the obvious obstacles. Happy Teachers’s Day!! PS: You can still find PharmaTree group and page on Facebook, with over 25k members. Unfortunately, I am unable to focus on it now, but may be in the future.
