With new EU HTA regulations coming online next year, the continent's leading national-level HTA bodies have a crucial role to play in ensuring a comprehensive and holistic approach to healthcare evaluation and regulation. This is just one of the topics discussed in a frank and wide-ranging interview with Lionel Collet, president of France's Haute Autorité de Santé who describes how HAS has evaluated 200 products during the past two years under its unique early access procedures and outlines why HAS is addressing the complexities of mental health in its 2030 strategic plan. When patients take actual actions? Being aware is part of the story, when patients are aware of their specific health conditions, including symptoms, causes, and potential risks, they can make informed decisions about their care. This knowledge enables them to actively participate in discussions with healthcare providers, ask relevant questions, and seek appropriate treatments. Moreover, Awareness of available support networks, patient communities, and resources can encourage individuals to seek assistance when needed. Patients can connect with others facing similar health challenges, share experiences, and gain emotional support. This sense of community can alleviate feelings of isolation and provide valuable insights and coping strategies.

Our preprint on barriers faced by people likely to have #LongCovid but haven't managed to access healthcare, has been released today (and not yet been peer reviewed). 🎉 This work was co-produced with healthcare professionals, academics and people with lived experience of LongCOVID. 🤝 We found: - Limited awareness in the community of what LC is & the available pathways to management; - Considerable self-doubt experienced, sometimes reinforced by interactions with healthcare professionals; - Questioning of deservedness to seek healthcare; - Experiences of stigma & discrimination. There was also evidence of hesitancy to engage with healthcare motivated by fear of: - Needing more investigations; - Judgement about ability to care for others; - Symptoms being attributed to poor mental health; - Overburdening the health system; - The complexity of the clinical presentation. Our recommendations based on the findings, can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eizqqGVC Thanks to Nisreen Alwan MBE and the rest of the STIMULATE-ICP Team for their ongoing commitment and dedication to this work! 🙌

In healthcare, research shows that the majority of occupational stressors facing clinicians are due to systemic factors; yet most interventions for burnout, quality, and patient safety are directed at healthcare providers and not at the system level. Learn more on the NIOSH Science Blog, including how a Total Worker Health approach can change this approach, help improve working conditions, and prevent burnout and dangerous physical and emotional harm to our nation’s health workers: https://bit.ly/3RxLuiD
