US Army recently conducted a live-fire exercise in Estonia, showcasing the M142 High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) to NATO’s multinational troops. The event, held in late December at the Central Training Area near Camp Tapa, Estonia, served as a significant demonstration of HIMARS strike capabilities. This exercise was particularly significant for the Estonian Defence Forces, as it offered them a firsthand look at the operational dynamics of the HIMARS systems they are set to acquire. In December 2022, the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments // Riigi Kaitseinvesteeringute Keskus inked a contract with the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) for the procurement of six Lockheed Martin M142 HIMARS launchers. This deal also encompasses a diverse range of missiles, communication systems, training modules, logistics, and comprehensive life-cycle solutions. The first deliveries are anticipated to commence in 2024.
