Army Secretary Christine Wormuth demanded a short term goal for Army. She called to “drive innovation in warfighting concepts and modernization.” And went on to emphasize “this is a crucial moment for the Army to summon our ingenuity, to invest in emerging technologies to reshape and transform the force to be more adaptable” Three challenges the Army & broader #DOD face that warrant an ingenuitive solution - #DataSharing: Joint Interoperability (JIIM-C) across 5-domains (air, land, sea, cyber, space) - #DDIL Capability: ability to operate and denied, degraded, intermittent and low, bandwidth environments. - High Throughput/Low #Bandwidth: means to overcome bandwidth and other degradation constraints to quickly make informed decisions with relevant/accurate data. As the Army looks to reshape and transform to become more adaptable, Immersive Wisdom (IW) can help. IW is a readily deliverable solution to meet our DDIL, Bandwidth and Joint Interoperability (collaboration) challenges. Rapid configuration of existing, fielded, equipment, particularly in austere and denied locations, is of paramount importance to the warfighter. A race toward technological superiority is shaping the future of warfare, with competitors pushing for high-tech battlefield advantage — and deterrent powers. In its recent white paper, Seven Critical Technologies for Winning the Next War, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) identifies key capabilities that could make the difference for the U.S. and allies in a near-peer adversary conflict. One of the seven technologies is near and dear to Fuse and our community: secure, redundant communications networks. Today, our team is designing and delivering warfighter-focused communications, networking, and computing solutions doing just that. Our innovative products enhance the sharing of information, video, text, and voice among warfighters throughout airborne, maritime, and ground environments. We work closely with defense customers to develop the critical communications they need, when and where it’s needed. This is exciting to see! Command and Control (C2) significantly impacts Warfighters by enhancing their operational capabilities. It focuses on improving decision-making and operational efficiency, especially for tactical edge formations. The Army's efforts in modernizing C2 capabilities, such as testing new equipment and adopting next-generation technologies, aim to provide Warfighters with more flexible and effective tools for their missions. Let’s just hope we continue to emphasize the need for less complex network and intuitive application designs — more is not best and increases complexity and decreases survivability at the tactical edge.

This week in Defense and Security Tech: 1️⃣ The NDAA was passed by the Senate for a defense policy bill that would authorize a total of $883.7 billion in fiscal year 2024 funding for national defense. 2️⃣ The DoD Chief Information Officer, John Sherman, recognized more than a dozen individuals and teams who contributed in exceptional ways to the advancement of the DOD's information technology goals during 2023. 3️⃣ U.S. Army PEO EIS publishes a perspective on acquisition reform by unleashing the DODI 5000.87 Software Acquisition Pathway (SWP), and how we should treat the concepts of MVPs and MVCRs 4️⃣ The United Operational Test Team (UOTT) has expanded from a multiservice to a multinational team responsible for the F-35 Joint Program Office. A MOU was signed formalizing the state-level partnership. 5️⃣ US Navy says two programs show the case for ‘colorless’ IT spending. The Software and Digital Technology Pilot Program, shows the ability to use a single color of money is a dramatic departure from the way the military has been buying almost everything for decades. 6️⃣ US Army asks industry for best acquisition approach for Vantage data platform re-compete. Army is moving away from a single-vendor approach the service has used in the past and was planning to award multiple vendors a spot for the re-compete. 7️⃣ Pentagon hopes to ring in new year with minimum viable capability for JADC2. The United States Department of Defense is gearing up to deliver a minimum viable capability for Combined Joint-All Domain Command and Control, by the end of 2023. 8️⃣ The Army wants smaller command posts. But first it needs great software.
