We’re excited to announce that Agrain is officially Upcycled Certified 🎉 Upcycled CertifiedⓇ is a certification standard for upcycled food and ingredients verified by third-party verification company Where Food Comes From, Inc. The Upcycled CertifiedⓇ mark signifies that a product has been made using ingredients that would otherwise not have gone to human consumption using an auditable supply chain. The mark makes it easier to choose foods that reduce food waste, are safe and nutritious, and have a positive environmental impact. Why does it matter? 💡 Upcycled food is the food of the future. According to the FAO, one third of all food produced is wasted, contributing to 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Upcycling food loss and waste from across the food system is critical to solving the climate crisis. DIFFERENT WAYS TO SUPPORT FOOD SUSTAINABILITY 🌍 🧑🏼🌾 Eating Local: If your food originates close to where you live, it requires less energy to transport it to you, and refrigerate it on its way. Traveling a shorter distance also means fewer emissions are produced. 🛒Eat Seasonally: This goes hand in hand with eating locally, since what's in season locale will naturally match the season you're in. 🌱Eat More Variety: Increasing the diversity of what you eat promotes diversity in agriculture, which in turn is better for the environment. 🥡Reduce Waste: More and more food ends up being thrown away, which means all the resources that went into producing that food are being thrown away with it.
