Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) includes initiatives that are taken up by organisation, with the aim of improving the world through practices, with aims such as long-term sustainability.
All the companies, having a specified net worth, turnover and net profits are required to establish certain CSR initiatives, as a way to return to the community, participate in philanthropic causes and have a positive social impact. More the significance of the company, the greater responsibility of CSR.
Apart from the largest CSR undertakings of the country, such as the Reliance Foundation by Reliance Industries, Tata Trusts by Tata Sons & Tata Groups, many other players have had a significant impact.
1️⃣NTPC Limited has adopted 18 industrial training institutes (ITIs) and setting up another 8 new it is to enhance employability, vocational training, skill upgradation etc.
2️⃣More than 50,000 underrepresented Indian school students in grades 9-12 are set to benefit from a Schools Engagement Program to promote social mobility and career advancement, as the University of Melbourne joins community and government partners in Andhra Pradesh to expand the transformative initiative.
3️⃣ PVR Cinemas through their CSR programme, run evening playing and coaching centres around their physical complex in Delhi, in partnership with the Art of Play Foundation. Art of Play Foundation runs structured sports programmes for development of children.
4️⃣Over the last five years, project Hilldaari has successfully developed inclusive and resilient models for waste management in select tourist cities of India. The project is currently operational in Ponda, Mussoorie, Mahabaleshwar, Munnar, Dalhousie, Darjeeling and Palampur. A Nestle India brainchild PLAN Foundation and Stree Mukti Sangathana and technical partner Recity India Pvt Ltd.
5️⃣Aster DM Healthcare's annual ESG Report highlights its strong commitment to environmental sustainability and alignment with 10 key UN Sustainable Development Goals. The company achieved a notable reduction of 6,824 tCO2e in net greenhouse gas emissions through the integration of renewable energy sources and decarbonization initiatives. Water consumption decreased by 17%, saving 85,515 KL through innovative practices, and responsible waste management led to the recycling of 423,806 KG. The organization's holistic approach underscores its dedication to global sustainability objectives.
