The skills in sales are based on technical and commercial knowledge with a broad spectrum. Certainly, all Sales Managers are not the same, one just wants to sell while the other wants to satisfy customers in order to strive for sustainability. To be successful, the following potential skills are an advantage: 1. in-depth knowledge of plant engineering e.g. Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics etc. (Experience in plant construction is very important) 2. Business knowledge 3. interpersonal communication to connect clients and internal staff (CRM = Customer relationship Management) 4. Customer satisfaction guarantee from the beginning of the project to after-market (Touchpoint Management - Customer Journey) 5. Strategic leadership approaches 6. Sales forecasts with the help of statistical evaluations (Balanced Scorecard) 7. Negotiating with a system - game theory and behavioural economics 8. Sales Coaching for internal staff and Customers 9. Marketing strategy with the help of market research 10. much more As you can see above, sales management is a complex area that ranges from human to technical. It is important to think outside the box in order to be successful together.
