Jacob Naiaparhalm, a 20-year-old from Mizoram, embarked on a new chapter of his life when he moved to Bangalore eight months ago. With his academic journey halting after the 9th grade, Jacob sought opportunities beyond his hometown. Back in Mizoram, his family owned a small general store, a place where he spent much of his time helping out and learning the basics of business management. It was through a friend that he got in touch with the HR department at GOPIZZA INDIA, a popular restaurant in the city. Soon, he found himself immersed in the world of hospitality, taking on roles as a cook, service staff, and cashier. The transition was swift, and Jacob quickly adapted to his new environment. He mastered the art of making pizza, from measuring ingredients with precision to understanding the right temperatures and perfecting serving techniques. Alongside these culinary skills, he also honed his customer service abilities, learning how to interact with guests warmly and professionally. When reflecting on his journey, Jacob expressed immense satisfaction. He enjoyed the daily interactions with customers and took pride in serving the pizzas. More importantly, this job taught him a crucial life lesson—the value of money. In Mizoram, Jacob had been a lavish spender, but his experiences in Bangalore instilled in him the importance of financial management. He now managed his earnings and expenses with care, a skill that he knew would benefit him greatly in the long run. Outside of work, Jacob found joy in simple pleasures. He loved playing football and indulging in BGMI, a popular mobile game. At such a young age, Jacob was not only learning and earning but also making time for his hobbies. Looking ahead, he aspired to grow professionally within the hospitality industry, aiming to climb the career ladder and achieve greater success. Jacob's story is one of adaptation, growth, and aspiration, a testament to the resilience and ambition that drive him forward in the vibrant city of Bangalore. #risersofindia #staffingsolutions #hiring

#103: Business gyan: When it comes to organisational culture, one name always outshine brightest: Taj of the Tata Group. There is something within the ecosystem, that the employees are willing to do almost anything for their guests. In 26/11 attack, the Taj employee were willing to spare their life to save other's life. The attack was an unforeseeable event, in any context no companies would have the predefined action prescribed in their manual, which also stood true for Taj as well. So what is so special about Taj? The secret lie in their value driven recruitment system: 1) Unlike other companies, Taj group hires people from a region remote from urban areas, like from Chandigarh or Dehradun (not Delhi), Pune (not Mumbai) because they feel that's where the contemporary traditional value exist. 2) The hiring managers scout candidate from those schools, which in local's perspective have good teaching standards. 3) They are even ready to hire school dropouts if they showcase respect for elders, cheerfulness, and neediness. Now the employees are almost trained such so that they are able to take any decision independently, Taj wants their employee to act as a customer’s, not the company’s, ambassadors. It is where the biggest concept for OB comes into act, that the employees are company first customer. There could be multiple other parameters which may have shaped the Taj which we see today. The result is the employees are the genuine Rubies, Emeralds and Diamonds to their TAJ. They are valuable, they are irreplaceable, they outshine and they are resilient. #organizationalbehaviour #hiringmanager #hiring #hr

For corporate employees who have just started their job in Gurgaon/Delhi-NCR, laundry can be a concern for many. You might not get time for it or may not have a washing machine with you. After all, rented flats don't always come with all the amenities you need. In the last three months, I've been staying in Gurgaon for my first stint. Laundry was a huge concern for me since I end up using a lot of clothes (office + morning run + evening gym session). The laundry rates at the hotel I'm staying at are at par with typical 5-star rates: ₹300 for a T-shirt. I ended up using Revivo's services. At ₹60/kg, and pretty good service, it's a great option for people staying in Gurgaon. At first, I was anxious about losing clothes and/or damage. However, for the past three months, it's been a pretty good experience. The only downside is that they need a minimum order of 3kg and take 3-5 days to deliver it back. If you have a stock of clothes that can last in that period, it should work out pretty well. No, this is not a sponsored promotional post. I'm just a happy customer looking out for Gurgaon corporate slaves. Happy adulting; hope it helps! #gurgaon #delhi #india #laundry #ncr #corporate #corporatelife #life #adulting #career #mba #management

When I was filling the preferred job location for companies right after college placements, I was so scared to go far away from my home. I am from Allahabad, so I kept only two options for myself to work: Delhi/Gurgaon or Lucknow. Fortunately, I got the offer from Gurgaon and I decided to move after COVID was over. The city has developed a good corporate culture in the past few years, but what I have noticed from my experience after staying there is that 🥳 Corporate Fun culture is too much there, but learning competition is less 🏢 Enough job opportunities are there, but salaries are not that awesome 🛒 A lot of areas have good facilities for groceries, e-commerce, food delivery, and travel but those areas are still very small. 🥶 It is really difficult to avoid pollution and extreme weather conditions. After some time I contemplated that am I satisfied with whatever I was receiving from this city or if I should reconsider my decision to stay close to home. Because even after staying a night’s journey by train from my home, I could hardly get time to visit there. So this time when I decided to switch my preferred location was only Bangalore, 1737km from my hometown in search of better for myself and my career. And my decision was right. 🥳 Fun, learning, competition, growth everything is amazing here. 🏢 Almost all the corporate companies have their offices here, so there are so many job opportunities with the best salaries in the country. 👩💼 The city is full of startups, so full of comforts. You can order almost everything just at the click of a button. You can dunzo your blanket to your friend in the city, rent a car/bike to travel, take a quick sharing ride, etc. 🤝I got to meet a lot of people from different domains, people from big mnc’s , founders, entrepreneurs, creators, and social workers who are actively and passionately doing their jobs. My perspective towards my job, career, and lifestyle transformed a lot. 🌴The city is greener, so pollution is comparatively less. And the weather here is just to die for. I know the cost of living is high in this city as compared to Gurgaon, and traffic is too much but I still feel that this city fulfills the dream of millions of people. I am away from home, but I think it is worth it until I am hustling to build my career. Which is your favorite city to work and live in?

Life's journey is a series of choices, each presenting a new path and challenge. Reflecting on my own journey, I'm reminded of the lessons from the book "How Will You Measure Your Life?" where the author discusses emergent and deliberate strategies. This concept resonates deeply with the decisions that have shaped my career. Back in '91, I stood at a crossroads in Delhi, choosing between the familiarity of staying put or the growth potential of moving to Jaipur. I chose Jaipur, embracing the learning and adaptation that came with living solo in a new city. Similarly, when Gujarat called, offering an opportunity to aid a struggling business in Ahmedabad, I stepped out of my comfort zone once again. Much like the emergent and deliberate strategies, these choices have been a constant in my life. Whether it was navigating the challenges in Bihar, Patna, and Kolkata or venturing into the telecom sector, each decision was a blend of careful planning and seizing unforeseen opportunities. Even when pursuing my MBA in Dubai and Singapore and later choosing to join Aditya Birla in Mumbai over returning to Airtel, I was guided by a mix of deliberate strategy and responding to emergent situations. Every step, including my role in merchandising for six years and my decade-long tenure in Delhi, has been an intricate balance of these two strategies. My journey underscores that career choices are not just about deliberate planning or reacting to emergent circumstances but a combination of both. Your journey, too, is shaped by these choices and strategies. It's about embracing the unknown, growing through adversity, and aligning your deliberate plans with life's emergent opportunities. Each choice, easy or tough, crafts your narrative and opens doors to new possibilities. So, as you navigate your career and life, remember the power of both deliberate and emergent strategies. Allow them to guide your decisions and shape your journey. It's about taking that step, making those choices, and giving yourself the power to craft your story. It’s all within your grasp. #leadership #lifechoices #amitkgupta #bata #sales #distribution

“Patna? Eww,” remarked a fellow trainee, as I received the location for my management trainee stint in Sales at Samsung. Several others echoed a similar sentiment. It seemed I was the only one assigned to a non-tier 1 city. I felt sorry for myself. But when I thought about it, none of these people had ever lived in Patna themselves. Their perceptions were solely based on stories & hearsay with no means of verifying the veracity. So, why should I let their opinions define my experience or make me feel sorry about it? It was then I realized that we need to see perceptions & reality differently. People are different when advising others versus doing something themselves. We miss out on a lot of opportunities when we allow negative perceptions built on incomplete information cloud our judgment. Eventually, my stint in Patna turned out to be one of the most enriching ones. I had travelled the length & breadth of Bihar, living far from my comfort zone. And embracing the challenging environment made me a more seasoned individual. If I had let others’ perceptions dictate my choices, I’d have never had the chance to live this remarkable journey. Embracing the unknown can lead you to the most transformative & rewarding experiences. Why not give it a try? #EmbraceTheUnknown #PerceptionVsReality #LifeLessons #Sales

Co-founders made in heaven! ❤️ You have already read how Maanika & I met and then later became co-founders of The Bridge Associates. It’s time that you meet Pranay- our most beloved co-founder. ✨ From working in Native to becoming natives in the literal sense- we vibed like no one could! At Native, we both were working together but from two different cities- Bombay and Patna. We were a part of the consumer practice and Pranay reported to me. The seeds of friendship were sown this way. :) We were killing it as a team & the buds started blooming in September 2021 Pranay came to Bombay and stayed with us. That was the ultimate spark! His bond with Maanika & our family started growing. Our friendship grew even stronger. (Told you we were becoming ‘natives’ in the literal sense 🤝) Over the course of time, we realized we both had a common goal. A goal to start something by ourselves, for ourselves using our strengths and making it work to our advantage. We decided there was no time better than the present and decided to quit. Our little sapling of friendship developed into a plant- greener & healthier. Maanika, Pranay & I together gave birth to The Bridge Associates 💪 Co-founders made in heaven, right? ;) Our global reach, industry expertise, assessment process, and up-to-date strategies, helped FMCG, D2C, and retail companies hire top-class talents. If you are one such company looking to hire great talent, hit us with a DM. We will get it done for you in the least time possible. Our record time: 48 hours! #hiring #india #humanresource #hr #thebridgeassociates

“After 17 years in exile, I am coming home”. When I said, My mother cried in Joy. And I tell you this “Never give-up on Your Dreams. Your Destiny awaits”…… I am returning back to Kerala in November in an HR Leadership role with a leading organization in the region. Seventeen years ago, I was standing on this very same Railway Platform, with barely nothing in hands. Three pairs of old clothes, few books, 1900 rupees and a heart full of dreams were the best things, I could carry in that journey to Bangalore. That day standing all alone on this platform, I told to myself- ‘if there is a return-back, it will be in a bigger way’. Just like everyone else, I too hoped to make it big in the city of dreams - Bangalore. For a shy small town boy, the challenges and difficulties of that big city was too much to handle. Got rejected in many interviews at first. Tasted the bitterness of Failures too many times. But those failures also brought an impeccable courage to stand-up every time, when I fell. Kept trying again and again. Took all those failures as learning notes in my book called 'LIFE'. And every time when I stand-up again, I would say "I AM NOT DONE YET'. From the one who failed in interviews, I went on to become the one who interviews people. My destiny brought me back to the same station where I begun my life-turning journey. And when I return back, I have everything I had aspired for. I can tell you this. Never let your situations dictate on your ability to MANIFEST your dreams. Dig deeper into YOUR DREAMS and DEEPER INTO YOURSELF, and anything you believe is possible. It will take You places you never imagined to reach. #hardwork #dontgiveup #dontquit #mindset #motivation #innovation #sustainability #inspiration #networking #culture #strategy #management #productivity
