July is UV Safety Awareness Month, and it's important to take precautions to stay safe from the sun's harmful rays. Areas of higher elevation, like the mountains, can intensify exposure to UV light reflecting off surfaces like concrete, sand, snow, or water. Even on cloudy days, UV rays can penetrate through clouds. Wearing clothing with UV or UPF 30 or higher, sunglasses, a hat, and long-sleeved shirts, as well as seeking shade between 10 AM and 4 PM, can all provide more protection. #PeakVistaCommunityHealthCenters #PVCHC #Colorado #HealthCenter #FQHC

Did you know more clothing during summer is actually better for you? This is because skin coverage can protect you from harmful UV rays. When spending time outdoors, cover your arms, neck, chest, face, and feet throughout the summer months in breathable fabrics that won't retain heat. Some fabrics are even designed with added UV protection and moisture-wicking to keep you cool! While the right materials shouldn't over-insulate you, it also pays to know the signs of heat stroke like nausea, headache, photosensitivity, and disorientation. If you notice these signs, get help moving into a shady area or even better, into an air-conditioned room and call emergency services if needed.

🌞🕶️ July is UV Safety Month! 🕶️🌞 While we all love a healthy dose of sunshine, it's essential to remember that the sun can also pose some serious risks to our skin and eyes if we don't take the right precautions. Here are some quick tips to keep safe: 1️⃣ Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 before going outside, even on cloudy days, and reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating. 2️⃣ Wear sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays - not only are they stylish, but they also protect your eyes from sun damage! 3️⃣ Stay in the shade as much as possible during peak sun hours (10AM - 4PM) and wear protective clothing like long sleeves, pants, and a wide-brimmed hat if possible. Remember, UV safety is a year-round responsibility. We can still enjoy the sun while protecting our skin and eyes. Have a fantastic and safe summer! ☀️🏖️😎 #UVSafetyMonth #SunSafety #HealthySummer #SummerTips #HealthyLiving #AlluvionHealth
