Very productive week at Future Point of View! Delved into AI, quantum computing, and explored upcoming tech trends shaping the next decade and learned practical ways to apply them. Excited about the future of these technologies and eager to apply what I've learned. Thank you Hart S. Brown and the FPOV Team for this incredible experience! #FPOVInternship #AI #QuantumFuture #okstate
FPOV hosted an excellent group during our 2024 winter Micro Internship this week. Students from Oklahoma State, University of Oklahoma, and East Central University collaborated on group and individual projects, all with an emphasis on unpacking future trends. The interns' team projects centered around the future of Quantum Computing, culminating in two assessments on Quantum Computing Risks and Quantum Computing Advantages. ☀Three Lessons I learned from my Summer Student Serendipitously, I had the good fortune of being paired with a phenomenal summer intern, Priyanka Rao, a 2nd year Applied Math and Computer Engineering Student at Queen's University. Here are three lessons I learned. Be Like Water – I witnessed Bruce Lee’s famous quote in real time. Just flow. When faced with a new task, when bumping up against a brick wall, when needing to pivot at the drop of a hat, she masterfully did it with ease. Creativity meets Engineering – Strengths in digital, data, and design, she had it all. Be it fresh ideas for my 212 Financial Literacy Series, or teaching me about algorithms, automation and technological application, she brought innovation to the team. Laugh More – Similar to an undergraduate degree in Applied Math and Computer Engineering, navigating through the ever-evolving investment landscape, conducting research daily, and building portfolios for clients requires attention to detail, analytical skills, and strong technical knowledge. Regardless of the task at hand she taught me to bring a good dose of daily endorphins to everything we do. I thank my lucky stars to have had the opportunity to work with such an impressive young lady. My heart is full❤️ #financialliteracy #investments #financialplanning #privatewealth #wealthmanagement

The Better Futures Institute, in collaboration with the City of San Antonio, will host a series of conversations about the future of cities during the Civic Tech Scholars internship program. These conversations will focus on understanding the roles of public city officials, urban resilience, civic engagement, and the impact of civic technology and innovation in shaping the future of cities. We think of the future as something we all create together, not something that's already decided and waiting for us: The future is a group project. By creating spaces for dialogue and understanding the diverse needs of our communities, we're turning aspirations into actionable plans—come and help us build a future that benefits everyone. #BetterFuturesConversations Session 1: Urban Planning & Public Infrastructure This session will provide insights into the role of urban planning and public infrastructure in shaping a sustainable and resilient San Antonio, and explore innovative solutions and community place-making strategies that can enhance the quality of life for our city’s population. https://lnkd.in/gu72S6BR #betterfutures #betterfuturesinstitute #civictech #steameducation #stem

Last summer I had the pleasure of being selected for an internship with the Anatomy Department of Peninsula Medical School. I spent time learning to: - Utilise pedagogical principles as a research-based foundation for effective teaching and learning practices - Operate the university's online user interface designated to the creation of learning materials - Employ adobe creative cloud to design and produce meaningful learning aids through diagrams and illustrations - Work with “Complete Anatomy” software to create online three dimensional anatomy resources for student visualisation of anatomical structures I created learning materials for undergraduate and postgraduate students - focused mainly on the anatomy and pathophysiology of the Brachial Plexus and Axilla. One quote I came across which remained the centre-point of my thinking throughout was this: "If students are to learn desired outcomes in a reasonably effective manner, then a teacher’s fundamental task is to get students to engage in learning activities that are likely to result in their achieving those outcomes…It is helpful to remember what the student does is actually more important in determining what is learned than what the teacher does." - Shuell (1986)

The fall semester has finally ended! We couldn't help but feel proud about the efforts put in by each and every MS BAnDS student over the past few months, which resulted in the below long list of achievements: 🎯 20+ students successfully completed their advanced Fall internships and got them extended for yet another semester. 🎯 Students had their papers and posters selected at prestigious conferences like Disney Data & Analytics, IEEE Sensors, SESUG, and SEDSI. 🎯 Students competed toe to toe with the best teams from the United States in competitions like Humana-Mays, Data 4 Good, GeoAI, and Water Supply Forecast Rodeo, showcasing their skills and holding their own 🎯 For the first time ever, two student teams from MS BAnDS made it into the top 5 of the Humana-Mays competition and won a combined prize money of $15,000 🎯 Our first-year students fiercely competed in the in-house Business Analytics case competition and impressed industry expert judges with their quality solutions. You could be doing all these things too next year as an MS BAnDS student if you apply for Fall 2024 admission before January 15! You may reach out to our current students through the Facebook group for any questions regarding the admission process (link in comments) #osu #gopokes #msbands #masters #gradschool #applications #tuition #internationaleducation #fall2024 #businessanalytics #datascience
