I don’t often share from my ‘day job’, but here’s my latest curation - which I think is a positive reminder that despite the current winds of change (the only constant…) there are still so many wonderful humans doing wonderful work in service of a better future. Their values are something worth focusing on, connecting and growing. One of my favourite yoga quotes feels timely here: “where our attention goes, grows.” In the current socio-(enviro)-political climate, (& even just at work where it’s our job to “solve problems”), our attention can easily end up constantly on “what’s not working”, which if we’re not careful, can develop into less positive perspectives, attitudes and feelings. Or create thought patterns and habits where we forget to notice or no longer see (or see the value in seeing…) what IS working. BRIGHT SPOTS. I was reminded recently (credit to the inspirational Jeremy Dean) of the concept of bright spots and bright spot thinking, from the book ‘Nudge’ (Heath and Heath, 2010.) I would love to see a bright spot category put into every project report! The bright spot is looking for what IS going well, and what IS working, and building from there. I particularly recommend the article below on ‘Managing complex work programmes’ by Rob Cousins (brilliant complexity thinker), and the accompanying webinar with innovation expert Daniel Hummerdal. Would love your reflections or feedback on these. Follow their work at: www.openchange.agency. The thought-leadership in Aotearoa is truly humbling. What conditions do we need to create, to allow what IS working, to spread and coalesce and empower more agency? FFTF (food for thought Friday ;-))

Alhamdolillah, Ramadan is one day away in Pakistan & accross the globe, moon has been sighted. so I thought to share some points which may benefit us. 1- prepare a timetable to follow in Ramadan like working hours, when to Recite, sleep, walk, jog, etc 2- widen your horizon & listen the difference of opinion regarding religious views 3- Ramadan & Quran has a special relation, start reciting consciously. Great to recite with understanding. 4- Charity - plan it, make an estimated budget and spend on the real needy ones instead of distributing on institution of beggars. Find a single person, who can be benefitted instead of multiple persons with small numbers. People also distribute ZAKAT in this month, advisable to learn first the applicability of zakat, how to calculate & to whom to pay. 5- Set a target to learn - any single topic such as Quran with Tarjuma (recommended Surah Yousuf, Kahf, Noor, Furqan, Noah, Mulk). Also can learn rules regarding Salah (namaaz), Seerat knowledge (Prophet's life) 6- find Imam for taravih that increase your love with Quran, you can find if you want (personally experienced) 7- Shopping - most important since we will have Eid & obviously wearing new clothes is blessing. Advisable to do in coming 3 to 4 days in order to avoid market visit in last part of Ramadan, these special nights will never comeback, cash it. 8- Beautify - last minute Beautification is a common day trend (visiting parlours), advisable to avoid it, basic is ok but spending unusual time on it may cost in cashing the jewels of Ramadan. 9- add / suggest anything comes in your mind :) #Ramadan #2024 #Goalsetting #Recitation #Geneorisity #life

There are some stretches of road on this planet that remain in my memory like nothing else on earth. One of these is the Petronas Sepang International Circuit here in Malaysia. From its inception in 1991 at the Shah Alam Circuit, to its relocation in 1999 to the state-of-the-art Sepang Circuit, this Grand Prix has evolved, attracting legends like Valentino Rossi, who holds the record for the most premier class victories. The circuit has witnessed triumphs, tragedies, and transformations, marking significant moments like the move from the Johor Circuit (another circuit I have taken a race bike round at speed) due to the 1997 Asian financial crisis. The upcoming Grand Prix in November triggers a mix of excitement and a reality check. Watching the pros tackle Sepang, I can't help but feel the gap between their skill and my somewhat more amateur attempts. I am looking forward to the race, not just as a spectator but as someone who's personally experienced and felt the rush on this track on many occasions. The tight gap between success and failure at that speed – it’s not something you forget or ever take for granted. It's a humbling reminder. There are some roads in my industry and my work that I feel I almost know this well, around every twist and turn. I believe that if you genuinely want to achieve excellence, it’s not just about knowing the track; it’s about knowing how to do it in under 2 minutes time and again – like the pros! In other words, the “footing” of your wheels is what matters, not just their rotation “speed.” Do your best to get to number one, but know the value of being able to maneuver every corner like someone who’s seen them all before. Have you ever been to the Petronas Sepang International Circuit? Which stretch of road can you drive down almost with your eyes closed? #MotoGP #Malaysia #leadership #leadershipinsights #agility
