"What is a Master's in Cities?" This is the most common question I get when I share about my recent educational experience. Last month, I completed the final week of in-person teaching for my Executive Master's in Cities at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Now, I'm focused on finishing the last group assignment and preparing to start my master's thesis, but the bittersweet feeling of nearing the end of this journey prompted me to write this post. The past nine months have flown by, filled with immense learning, challenges, and a lot of fun. Coming from a tech-transportation background, sitting alongside inspiring political figures, policymakers, NGO leaders, mobility experts, passionate activists, visionary architects, and insightful scholars from around the globe representing a wide range of cities was both awakening and intimidating at first. Despite the initial uncertainty, these weeks have shown me that I could not only learn a great deal but also contribute significantly. From eye-opening case study discussions to site visits of transformative urban developments, and from incredible guest speakers to group projects with real impact on cities globally, I couldn't have imagined how much these last months would educate, transform, and prepare me for my leadership path in various urban-related fields such as mobility, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, land use, urban planning, social and economic development. I'm incredibly grateful and happy to have made this decision. I want to thank all my cohort colleagues, faculty (Jennifer H., Nermin A., Philipp Rode, Ricky Burdett, Savvas Verdis, Tony Travers), guest lecturers and everyone I met along this journey so far. I'm already missing you all! A special thanks to the best hosts I could have asked for during my trips to London, Ines Cavaco and Joana Libano Monteiro. Your warm welcome and hospitality made my experience even more special. So, what is an Executive Master's in Cities? It's a transformative program that equips you with the knowledge, skills, and network to drive impactful change in urban environments. It's about learning from the best, contributing to meaningful discussions, having real impact, and preparing to lead the cities of tomorrow.

Wow Paulo Cabral, this is fantastic ! congrats for getting back to school and will to transform our urban environment. I'm myself finishing my master degree in "managing urban transitions" in November and in the middle of writing my master's thesis. Let's talk, that would be fun !
