Throwback to an incredible experience as a speaker at the recently concluded Nigeria Fintech Forum #Nff2023 It was an honor to share insights on the vital concept of Re-bundling in the Nigerian tech space, inspired by the dynamic changes we're witnessing in the global fintech landscape. The boom in the fintech space has been very helpful in accelerating payment and has evidently improved the mode of business in Nigeria, but this has also created a problem of having numerous channels to pay hereby letting users juggle between several apps and web. The rebundling trend, as witnessed in the fintech world, highlights the evolution of customer-centric financial services. With the rise of fintech companies striving to become 'one-stop-shops' for comprehensive financial solutions, the focus has shifted back to providing a diverse range of specialized services under a single roof. Customers are now demanding for an application that solves majority of financial needs , just as WeChat does in China, where you can order for food, get a taxi, do your regular transactions and still chat friends. As I discussed during the forum, this trend reflects a natural progression, much like what we've seen in other industries. Just as software giants evolved into platforms offering a suite of applications, fintech is heading in a similar direction. The aim is to provide customers with simplicity, choice, and a more holistic financial experience. A key point emphasized during the discussion was the importance of strategy and contextual execution in the rebundling process. The focus should be on enhancing customer experience and delivering value, rather than simply maximizing margins. It's imperative to avoid overbundling, where irrelevant services are added, and to ensure that all regulatory aspects are met to maintain consumer protection. I'm deeply grateful to the Nigeria Fintech Forum for providing me with this wonderful opportunity to engage with the vibrant fintech community in Nigeria. Interesting moments at the Fintech Association of Nigeria social meet The social meet provided valuable insights into the dynamic landscape of the Nigerian Fintech ecosystem, and the critical role a strong regulatory framework will play in the safeguarding of data, and attracting foreign players into the space. It was emphasized that one way to grow the ecosystem is to build regulators to make the environment safe and interesting for foreign players to come and invest. While the Fintech space is a sensitive one, as regards the handling of data, it is imperative for fintechs in Nigeria to embrace regulation. Notably, proactive collaboration between Fintech companies and regulators will not only foster innovation but enhance the ease of doing business.
