 "AI is making us lazier. " https://lnkd.in/gPT7XDye I recently read this opinion online and immediately felt the need to counter it. My opinion? I see AI as a boon, not something that makes us lazier but just as a tool that saves us time and skyrockets efficiency. Isn’t that the whole purpose of technology? Of course, while these tools are made for our betterment, there is always also scope for misuse. But, that is the nature of technology or pretty much everything that exists today. When computers were invented first, they were designed to make our lives easier. Unfortunately, the way people use it can't be controlled. Similarly, the purpose of AI is not to replace human work and make us lazier but to simply aid better time management and make us more efficient. Who else is pro-AI here? PS. Recently read this article by Kelly Fletcher, FPRCA titled, "AI Is Considered the "Wild West" — Here's How Marketers Can Rein It In and Ensure Ethical Use." It was both insightful and witty, and a good summary of our discussions on Ethics and AI at Augurian this week. I love that she ended it with, "I wrote this article based on my own and very human insights and experience, however, once written, AI was used for enhancement. I used AI to research examples, which I then fact-checked, and to edit my article for spelling and grammar mistakes and readability. Just to be transparent … and ethical." A great read. Brings up a great point about Ethical AI. What’s right & what is unethical? Lots to digest as technology advances and influences.

Let’s talk about this headline: AI Will Replace 95% of Creative Marketing Work. In his new book, Creator of ChatGPT Sam Altman said, “It will mean that 95% of what marketers use agencies, strategists, and creative professionals for today will easily, nearly instantly and at almost no cost be handled by the AI.” This headline is a bold prediction, and we respectfully disagree. While we agree that AI makes marketers and creatives better, we don’t think it will replace them to this predicted degree. People need to know what to tell AI, assess and verify the output of AI, and have a creative eye to align AI output with brand messaging, values, and design. We enjoy the support and benefits AI will bring to the marketing industry, but we don’t think it’s yet ready to replace the creativity and strategic minds of humans.
