I can only ask that those of us in our healthcare industry and those who support us and who we pay to do work for us, that think of ourselves as leaders, should ask ourselves what we would do if we had a transgendered child or relative ( or any member of the LGBTQI family) who is sick or who needs care. We want them to be denied that care simply because they are part of a diverse population? I dont think so. Leaders, LEAD, and manage people from all walks of life ( hopefully). Please LEAD and support ALL people, regardless of whether we agree with their lifestyle . I may not be a martian ( substitute with whatever denomination or religion you wish), or support martian values, but I would not deny a martian access to care, EVER. Color the rainbow of walks of life and provide care and discriminate against NONE. That should be an oath. not hindered by laws. I post these things because others don't. I PROUDLY and unapologetically post this, other than to say if its not your juice, dont read it. Also why do we keep going backwards with women’s rights , LGBTQI rights and others ??? Wake up. Don’t accept backwards thinking

I'm not a lawyer, but a student of the Constitution. This seemingly violates the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution (Section 1): "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

I personally thank you for the courage to share your opinion, which is the opinion of many but afraid to share. Religious, cultural, political ideologies continue to separate, segregate, shame and compromise the health and wellbeing of all humans. We are one species - humans - not a classification of superior or inferior categories of humans and we all deserve the exact same rights to flourish and thrive. Unfortunately, this is part of the human condition - the mindset of "us against them", "we are better than them", etc. I do see a gradual shift or evolution into a higher level of consciousness but we cannot let up. Every day counts for us to stand up and fight for one another. You are doing it, and we ALL need to have the courage to do it too.

Paul - thank you so much for posting this! The attacks on transgender healthcare are not slowing - and as you point out - the impact on the lives of transgender kids is real - and sadly in many cases will cost the lives of these kids in exchange for a political strategy and game. The recent decisions are also an incredibly slippery slope to having states and courts decide on equitable access to healthcare for the entirety of the LGBTQ+ community. LEADING is important - as the CEO of a company we have the ability to impact change via our employee policies and ensuring that regardless we offer our employees access the appropriate healthcare choices - even if that means providing those employees financial coverage to seek necessary gender confirmation care and support outside of the stages where they live.

I couldn’t agree more: we need to use our voices and we must vote! 25+ years in healthcare and I still don’t understand why the politicians and the Supreme Court think they know better than HCPs who spent years studying to have a license to treat all. Maybe is time to create a Supreme Healthcare Court to determine if politicians can be candidates, or lawyers can be lawyers…because we all know, mental health affects all, right? One day they pick on women, the next on the LGTBQ+, but I don’t recall picking on those who look like them.

Kudos to you for your leadership and voice in these desperate times. This issue is near and dear to my heart and watching my child fear for her safety and health through no fault of her own is heartbreaking. The biotech industry and the society overall seriously need to change software. I am Convinced we can change things but we have to work together, and stop playing selfish. Your leadership Paul Hastings in defending people’s rights, our people, is inspiring and we should unify behind people like you and other leaders willing to do the right things to push back in those dangerous ultra conservative and extremists people that are pushing their stinky propaganda. Be sure I will stand by your side in that battle.
