Hot take on a hot topic: Generative AI technology is not going to take the jobs of knowledge workers who organize and communicate the impact of critical thinking. But AI *should* be used to replace the repeatable, manual effort of tasks *so that* the people currently doing those roles are freed up to work on higher value outcomes. My hot take? I believe that if you're a critical thinker in a knowledge worker role *and* you can orchestrate and articulate the distinction between high-value work and low-value work, Generative AI is not going to take your job. Midjourney doesn't know what a magnet 🧲 is. I ran the prompt "woman holding a magnet" dozens of times and this image is the closest it got. While I love AI tools, they still have their limitations and sometimes its the smallest of things. Here’s why it’s not perfect ↓ Most people don’t realize AI like Midjourney still has limitations. It can do amazing things, but it struggles with simple tasks like recognizing a magnet. At the time, everyone thought AI was the Second Coming - a flawless tool that could solve any problem. But there are still gaps that need fixing. Here are a few reasons why AI like Midjourney isn’t ready for everything: → Lack of Common Sense AI can process vast amounts of data, but it doesn’t understand context like humans do. It can’t always make sense of simple, everyday objects. → Dependence on Training Data AI relies heavily on the data it’s trained on. If the data is flawed or incomplete, the AI’s performance will suffer. → Complexity vs. Simplicity AI excels at complex tasks but can stumble on simple ones.
