Let's stir things up! For the past two decades, I've been entrenched in the Transport and Logistics game, hustling in warehouses and depots of all shapes and sizes. But no matter where I've been, there's been one constant nuisance: dust. Some places are worse than others, but it's a shared headache. So, here's my challenge to all the folks out there: whether you're an Team Member, Team Leader, Supervisor, Operations Manager, Depot Manager, Branch Manager, OHS Manager, CEO, or just someone walking through an operations area, take a moment to run your hand over a railing, some pallet racks, or even a forklift. Take a look at the colour left on your palm afterward—that's what your team breathes in day after day. We don't need to dwell on the risks of breathing in dust long-term; it's serious business. That's why I'm offering something special: free, no-strings-attached site inspections. Plus, I'll throw in personalised equipment recommendations. If you want to get ahead of the game and keep your workspace clean and safe, I'm here to lend a hand.

Corporate trainer and training development specialist working to create an environment where people are valued, challenged to grow, and honest communication is fostered.
Our lives seem to move at an awfully fast pace. With all of our responsibilities, day-to-day activities can become hectic and overwhelming. In this constant rush, I often focus on the “big thing.” “The big thing” is whatever is looming on my calendar or to do list. Having too much to do can become paralyzing. How do I deal with this? One basic thing I try to remember is focusing on “small things”, the simple, basic things that are often overlooked. Over the years, I have found focusing on the small details has a huge impact. When I do this, the “big things” have a tendency to take care of themselves, or at least not feel as overwhelming. This has proven true not only in my personal life but in my career. It is odd, but the more "small" things I take care of, the more major things I seem to accomplish. I have also seen this in the teams with which I have worked. Years ago, as a production technician, every time we began to fight major issues in production, the root cause almost always wound up being some little thing that was neglected. One of the hardest adjustments for me when I left the shop floor was managing multiple projects while not seeing the immediate results. In production, I had a number to tell me if a day was good or not. By focusing on priorities and measuring the “small things,” I was able to better manage all the things I had going on. One of the foundational things that helps me, is simply having a routine to take care of those little things. Each day. Consistently. When I vary from my set routine, I find myself falling behind. Or at least feeling like I am falling behind. I have come to realize that the “big deal” is not really big. It is simply many small things that need consistent attention.

Meet Rick Lopez! He is the Senior Production Planner at Contract Production Services. CPS is your partner for fast-turn high-quality assembly and packing, customized to meet your unique needs. Check out what he has to say about his 9 years of experience! 🔹 How long have you been at VLR/CPS? "9 Years (April 2014)." 🔹 What inspired you to work here? "Previously, I had been working as a Project Manager and Estimator for an Excavating and Siteworks company. While I enjoyed doing it, I didn’t enjoy the long summer hours and missing out on the best days Minnesota has to offer. When the opportunity arose to apply with Contract Production Services, I took it. The idea was to tie in my career a little closer with my education along with avoiding a position in which I would be giving up summers outside of work. Seeing the positive contributions Contract Production Services makes to help VLR serve low and no vision clients was a major plus as well, as it shows that this isn’t your typical corporate set up." 🔹 Favorite memory at VLR/CPS? "I have to say, that there was something very cathartic about the last time I locked Lyndale Avenue CPS/VLR Locations’ doors after removing the last piece of equipment on site. It was a long overdue move, and it felt great to be able to look at my time in that building with the team members that helped us make it all happen and realize we wouldn’t need to deal with all of that site’s shortcomings anymore." 🔹 Favorite sports team? "Green Bay Packers. I’m not about to doubt my analysis at age 8 that the Green Bay Packers are the best!” 🔹 Favorite thing to do outside of work? "Camping and Side by Sides / Four Wheelers – Mix in some road trips with ATV’s in tow and I’m happy!” 🔹 If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? "Japan. Their culture and their cities are very intriguing, and especially with Tokyo, look very futuristic. I think it would be a fantastic trip that would completely remove any semblance of ‘comfort zone’ as I officially understand 0 Japanese.” 🔹 What's the best piece of advice you have ever received? "To stop focusing on the overarching nightmare and worrying and start knocking out the problems one by one. I think we all have a tendency to look at a large challenge and freezing because it’s just so much to do. Starting something is always better than freezing." 🔹 Do you have any pets? "3 Cats. It gets a bit chaotic sometimes.” 🔹 If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why? “George Carlin – So I could get a few more laughs as well as his facetious outlook on current affairs.” #VisionLossResources #ContractProductionServices #MeetOurTeam

President at AlmCrown Delivery | Work with me to get your final mile Consumer Goods shipped intact and on time, to their final destination.
I woke up at 6 am the other day to a notice that our newest office supply client wanted us to deliver two tractor trailers worth of photocopy paper in Montreal ASAP. This was significantly more than we had originally thought we’d be delivering. Scale and size are all relative, so for our sister branch in Montreal, getting two extra tractor trailers on a drop of a dime is no easy feat. But everyone knows AlmCrown likes a challenge, and there’s nothing that wakes you up more than an impossible feat. So I pulled some strings, made some calls, and found a way. Rush jobs are always stressful, and this particular client comes with a variety of logistical complications. But it’s also the nature of our industry. And at this point, you’re either keeping up or falling behind. I’d like to think we’re keeping up. __ 👋 Hi, I’m Jason. I run a logistics company that specializes in customized deliveries. Follow for more industry insights.
