Head of the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and Established Professor of French at the University of Galway
First day in my new role as Head of the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Galway. While I will miss my great colleagues and friends at University College Cork and its beatiful campus, I am so pleased to lead a school that offers Classics, French, Gaeilge, German, Italian and Spanish within a bi-lingual campus situated within Ireland's only official bi-lingual city. Multilingualism matters and transforms understanding in a world of movement and change.
Many congratulations Pat. A huge loss to UCC but I know you are looking forward to the new challenge and will no doubt be very successful. Bon chance.
Congratulations, Patrick! Galway is lucky to have you. I'll always remember your wonderful and accessible way of teaching French when I was a student in UCC!
