The amphiphilic antioxidant ascorbyl palmitate is promising for food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. Straightforward access to this material is thus highly desirable and was investigated by Jessica Holtheuer, Luigi Tavernini Pietrasanta, Claudia Bernal, Oscar Romero Ormazábal, Carminna Ottone, and Lorena Wilson who demonstrate the enzymatic synthesis of ascorbyl palmitate in a sequentially operated rotating bed reactor. Interesting talks this morning at the #SMASH2023 #bruker user meeting covering hot topics such as sustainability, lab automation, bioproduction analytics, PAT and benchtop NMR.
