Today, The Economic Times revealed data from Deloitte about the status of succession planning at Corporate India. A topic very close to my heart. It's not only about #BusinessContinuity, it's also about authentically accepting the #Vulnerability of every position and hence building trust among people in the bottom of the Pyramid, that even such sensitive process is being executed effectively by the #Leader. Here the culture of the leadership matters more than process written in handbook. It's really sad to know that 70% of corporate India have process but effectiveness reported is only 25%, a lot of work need to be done by us as Industry leaders. Have been blessed to work with organisations where we demonstrated examples of #SuccessfulSuccession, the last one for me was at #Hella India Lighting Ltd. Lead by Example: The Power of Influence I recently came across an inspiring video interview with Mr. NR Narayana Murthy, the esteemed founder of Infosys in India. His insightful leadership tips continue to resonate with me, especially his emphasis on the importance of "Leading By Example." Throughout his successful journey, he has consistently practiced this principle. Leading by example is a remarkable and influential tool, whether we are parents, friends, managers, or leaders within a company. People observe and emulate the actions of others. Even babies may not comprehend words, but they learn by observing and imitating their parents' behaviors. Similarly, in a family, we are all influenced by our parents' actions. The same holds true in a company, where employees closely observe and align their behavior with that of their leaders. It is unreasonable to expect punctuality from staff when the manager is consistently late. In my own family, I strive to be a positive role model for my daughters. Instead of merely instructing them on what not to do, I believe in leading by example. More often than not, this approach has proven highly effective. Let's remember the incredible power of leading by example when we seek to influence others. I’ve just finished reading “My Life in Full” written by former chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi. I was impressed and inspired by many of the examples from her journey of becoming a CEO of a multi-billion dollar company, and sharing here some examples to inspire others to read her book: https://lnkd.in/gYFZbDFD - If you have limited time, jump to “Looking Ahead” chapter that speaks to things we should be focused on today to secure better tomorrow. - I was impressed by men that supported Indra through her journey to a CEO role despite all bias against women leaders back then, and still today. - I loved Indra’s example of writing letters to families of her leadership team and thanking them for sharing their family member with her for work. None of us play just one role in society and community. - Performance reviews: Indra observed during her tenure the and-but phenomenon. When men were evaluated, the talk would go like this: “He did a good job, delivered the most of his objectives, and…” and then some details about this man’s terrific potential. When women were evaluated, it would get a different twist “She did a great job, delivered on all of her objectives, but…”. And then some details about some kind of issue or personality problem that might derail her future success. It’s not surprising that still today out of the Fortune 500 CEOs less than 10% are women. #mylifeinfull #leadership #leadbyexample

R. the platform to translate his values into practice: "Complying with your value system enables people to have high aspirations, self-esteem, confidence in the future, and the enthusiasm to take on difficult tasks. Leaders must “walk the talk” and demonstrate their commitment to the value system. 🌟 Excited to share our latest research paper on Women Leadership in Business! 🌟 Coming from a tier 2 city in India, I've seen challenges that women face in pursuing leadership roles. Responsibilities at home often take precedence, making it harder for them to step into leadership positions. This got me thinking - why do we see more women leaders in tier 1 cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore? This led me to research the different challenges that women face to enter into leadership roles. Our study delves into this issue, shedding light on the gender gap in business leadership. Shockingly, only 10% of Fortune 500 companies are led by women. We found that women leaders bring invaluable skills like stellar communication and empathy, which supercharge innovation and team dynamics. However, still there are some obstacles like bias and limited networking opportunities. Identifying leadership potential early on, using tools like competency assessments, can be a game-changer. Let's keep pushing for more inclusive corporate landscapes. I admire Roshni Nadar for her charisma, empathetic behaviour, goal orientation and inspirational philanthropic work.
