I was thrilled to moderate a star-studded panel at the #FijiAirways #Mentalwellness round table discussion this morning, which was broadcast live to Fiji Airways staff around the world! We discussed ways to break the stigma associated with mental health conditions, how to distinguish between burn-out and depression, and why pilots and crew should not assume that seeking medical care is a career-ending move. A huge thank you to our special guest, former ABC national medical reporter Sophie Scott OAM for sharing her expert insights and providing some simple and practical techniques that we can all use when we’re not feeling our best. My key take-aways were (i) listen to your body (it never lies), (ii) the quality of your relationships has the strongest correlation to your mental wellness, and (iii) practise gratitude and mindfulness regularly and often.
