Talent Acquisition Specialist | Connecting Top Talent with Exceptional Opportunities | First Gen Latina| Spanish Speaker
“Hi, I’m Marina.” “Hi, I’m Maria.” What happens when you give two talent acquisitions a camera? ✨MAGIC✨ Maria Avila Otero and I had the honor to help serve University College at University of Denver with their career fair. We met so many fun candidates. Working with a school can offer several perks, including: 1. Job Stability: School positions often provide stable employment, especially for teachers and support staff, with regular hours and holidays. 2. Benefits: Schools typically offer benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities. 3. Summers Off: Teachers and some staff enjoy extended summer breaks, providing time for rest and personal pursuits. 4. Impact on Education: Contributing to the education of students can be rewarding and fulfilling, knowing you're making a positive impact on their lives. 5. School Community: You become part of a close-knit community of educators, students, and parents, fostering a sense of belonging. 6. Work-Life Balance: Many school roles offer reasonable work hours, allowing for a good work-life balance. 7. Career Progression: Opportunities for advancement and career growth are often available in the education sector. 8. Access to Resources: Schools provide access to educational materials, libraries, and technology that can benefit both employees and their families. 9. Summers for Family: If you have school-age children, working in a school can align with their academic calendar, making it easier to spend time with them during breaks. 10. Fulfilling Mission: If you are passionate about education and helping young minds develop, working in a school can align with your values and goals. Thank you Denver Public Schools for creating an environment where we feel welcomed.

❓ What skills can History give you? ❓ This poster outlines the skills students develop when they study History. This free-to-download suite is designed to help students and parents understand how studying History can lead to strong employment prospects, in-demand skills, personal growth and community wellbeing. We hope these resources help you inspire young people to continue studying History, or to foster their passion for this wonderful subject. They can be distributed at subject-selection events and careers fairs, posted up in History classrooms and staff rooms, or simply sent to a student who is talking with you about their subject choices. Please be sure to share these with your school or university careers counsellors. HTAV would like to acknowledge the support of the Victorian Government and the Department of Education. All schools, universities, history teachers’ associations and historical associations are welcome to provide their members and networks with the link to the resources. 🔗 To download the full suite of resources, click here: https://lnkd.in/gtXFnePF

Conducting College Fair 'alone' IS NOT equal to providing robust career & college guidance in schools. In the last 6-7 years we have seen that the awareness & maturity of entire ecosystem to have move ahead when it comes to career guidance intervention. But the current trend (among pvt schools specially) of just doing college fair, mostly with tier 3 & below universities has no impact to help students chose a right career. While we may go slow or be far away from what western countries have done in this space, doing random stuff in the form of one-time event is not helping move things for students when it comes to their career & college decision!

#NationalCareersWeek I actually wrote this last year ... still just as relevant today as it was then so reposting again this National Careers Week ... For many, including myself, a careers journey is not a straight line, but rather one taking many twists and turns. My meandering journey has seen me in many job roles, giving me an enormous amount of experience and a plethora of transferable skills. Think about all your experiences, from working, volunteering, in your personal life, and think about all the valuable transferable skills you have gained. #careers #careerjourney #lifeskills #skills #transferableskills #experience Blackpool and The Fylde College

What does Grassroots Grocery do during the week when we're not hosting our Saturday Produce Party? One major focus is our commitment to nurturing the future through regular produce deliveries to middle and high schools in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. A prime example of this commitment is our partnership with New Directions Secondary School, initiated by a committed school social worker, Jolyon Davis, LMSW,SIFI, who sought out resources for his students. Today marked a particularly special moment, bringing me back to my educational roots in the Bronx. This time, invited by Jolyon not for a produce delivery but to share insights from my career journey alongside a diverse group of professionals at the NDSS career fair. Speaking at this event was an opportunity to demonstrate the synergy between our weekday school deliveries and our vision for a healthier, empowered future for young minds. I hope that today I helped some students envision a future as rich and diverse as the produce we deliver. A heartfelt thank you to Jolyon for integrating Grassroots Grocery into the fabric of NDSS, and a shout-out to all the other professionals today for enriching the career fair with their insights and experiences. As Grassroots Grocery continues to bridge the gap between food access and education, every delivery, conversation, and partnership, especially ones like with NDSS, underscores our belief in the transformative power of community engagement. Together, we're not just feeding families; we're planting seeds of potential in the next generation. Let's keep building those bridges, one produce delivery and career fair at a time. #CommunityImpact #EmpoweringYouth #FutureLeaders #FoodJustice #BuildingBridges
