I cringe whenever I see job roles looking like a bowl of fruit salad with every imaginable fruit in it. Because experience shows that even if you find someone who can do all that, they are average at best and will do just exactly what your competitors are doing. How then do you have a radical differentiation and positioning as an X brand in a sea of several O brands like yours? Specialisation is key for every job role to be a success. This is why you have consultants in medicine and lawyers specialising in certain areas of the law rather than just trying to do everything and become average.
