Anyone at any age can develop post-traumatic stress disorder after experiencing a range of types of trauma, according to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs’ National Center for PTSD. PTSD Awareness Month during June aims to spread the word about treatments available so that those who need help, get it. Our partners at PAM Voyages Behavioral Health specialize in PTSD treatment. June is National PTSD Awareness Month. While many children may experience a stressful or traumatic event in their lifetimes, PTSD is only diagnosed when symptoms persist for more than one month and interfere with personal relationships or activities. A child or teen may suffer from PTSD following a serious car accident, natural disaster, loss of a friend or family member, or physical, sexual, or emotional maltreatment. Primary care physicians can make use of our evidence-based questionnaires and rating scales in their practice, which include PTSD: https://bit.ly/3VKCs2w #ContinuingMedicalEducation #PTSDAwarenessMonth #PTSDAwareness #PTSD
