Conversations at the World Economic Forum in Davos highlighted the extraordinary potential of Artificial Intelligence for health. With HealthAI, the World Health Organization and many other partners we need to ensure that guardrails are put in place to protect citizens and health systems. This is critical to build trust and accelerate adoption of these technologies globally. Moreover, low and middle income countries need to have a seat at the table where decisions are made and have the resources and investments to leapfrog into the future and narrow the digital divide. We can get there, together. #WEF24

End of 2019 I joined the #Biobank #Lariboisiere, under the #APHP hospital trust, to advice on its Cloud and AI strategy leveraging its #biobank #data. As part of these discussions we initiated discussion with #OVH #Cloud and other service providers to try to draft what that strategy would look like for us while extending these primary discussions within overarching government projects such as the #health #data #hub or european projects such as the european #health #data #record. What very few people know was that behind that role was also for me the opportunity to start a #PhD #research on #olfactory #pathway #modeling on #C #elegans. So I am definitely thrilled to see this article pop and see olfaction become a hot topic as the application in different industries from drugs and therapeutics to cosmetics are huge ! Ever since a lot has changed... In March 2020, the #covid19 #pandemic torpeedoed our lives and I switched to become data analyst reservist in support of the hospitals in their fight against covid19, went through #Entrepreneur #First and started #OpenSynBio, our non for profit computing foundation #bringing #synbio and #computing #together. There are many lessons in disguise here: . A PhD / PhD candidate has a life after his/her PhD wether you go through or not with it . Yes your knowledge is valuable . Valuable enough to become a strength in evaluating DeepTech deals in vc . Valuable enough to even allow you to be bold enough to want to be a VC but most important of all, it was a process. The process of going from solving one problem after another and never ever would I have dreamed 5 years ago that I would end up a VC even less a founder and managing partner. So: . focus on solving . focus on building . focus on what value you can bring to the table . focus on never selling yourself short by not allowing yourself to go through the process entirely by thinking that its impossible...

AI amplifies human genius in health communication. The real magic isn’t the algorithm. What if you could use AI to free your energy? What if AI can take over your boring stuff for you? What if you had more time to focus on your irreplaceable lived experience, your one-in-a-billion insights, and your cosmic-scale empathy? Language is the source of digital medicine. What will you write?

Just published in Nature: New AI Predicts Anxiety Levels "The system represents a “concierge prototype” of a tool that could be an app for medical professionals, hospitals or the military to identify those who have an urgent risk of anxiety." "Anxiety can be functionally impairing, affecting 12% of the U.S. population as a leading cause of disability. It’s characterized by intense fear and persistent worry in the absence of a defined threat. Chronic anxiety can harm a person’s mental and physical health and affect relationships, careers and quality of life." Philosophy of Mind & Cognitive neuroscience. Professor at LMU, Munich. Expert on interactive intelligence, collective experiences & social/political relevance of research.
In my latest interview with the EU Parliament's tech panel, we dove into how new neurotechnologies will affect our privacy and who we are. Here are three points that really matter to me: 1. Brain data? Let's talk bigger: Brain data is important, but our mental lives don't start after the skull. We should be looking at all the ways technologies, such as XR, peeks into our mental lives, not just our brains. 2. Ethics needs positivity: Instead of just sending warnings and rules on tech companies, we should be pushing for a positive agenda for data-driven technologies, showing how it can help us all. 3. It's everyone's future: Ethical conversations are easily confined to experts or abstract terms. We need to collaborate with artists and museums to bring these discussions to life through real-world examples, making it accessible for everyone to weigh in. #Neurophilosophy #DigitalEthics #FutureOfTechnology" https://lnkd.in/dUNbV4nu
