🔍 Innovative Approaches in Public Health: Research Circles In the quest to enhance public health and welfare services, the concept of research circles has emerged as a powerful method for co-creation and innovation. A recent study by Birthe Møgster, Ottar Ness, and Monika Alvestad Reime highlights several key insights: Dedicated Innovation Units: Establishing innovation units separate from daily operational tasks can significantly promote the realization of service interventions. This separation allows for focused, uninterrupted work on innovative projects. Mediating Roles: Assigning a mediator between the research circle and the implementation context is crucial. This role helps bridge gaps, manage barriers, and ensure the smooth transition of ideas into practice. Support Structures: Research circles act as support structures that foster a collaborative environment. They create a common frame of reference and joint responsibility among participants, which is essential for overcoming barriers and improving service quality. Resource Allocation: Adequate time and resources are vital for the success of co-creation processes. The study found that insufficient time allocation can hinder the design and implementation of new services. Civil Society Collaboration: Effective collaboration between civil society and the public sector is necessary to avoid the devaluation of volunteer efforts and ensure the sustainability of service interventions. Ethical Considerations: Ethical dilemmas, especially when dealing with vulnerable groups, require careful reflection and discussion to provide supportive and non-exploitative services. A recent study by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra emphasizes the need for more efficient use of social and healthcare data. The study also highlights the potential for cost savings and enhanced quality of care through more efficient use of data. The biggest challenges are related to how the information flows from one service provider to another. Sitra estimates annual cost savings of EUR 770 million in Finnish social welfare and healthcare services, alongside freeing up the valuable time of healthcare professionals. Cambodia has launched the "Roadmap for Global Health Coverage in Cambodia 2024-2035," a significant health policy aimed at improving the country's social protection system and enhancing the health and well-being of its citizens. The roadmap outlines a strategic path to achieving comprehensive health coverage nationwide, paving the way for a stronger, multi-sectoral healthcare system over the next decade. Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the importance of this initiative for the nation's social welfare, stating that it is crucial in ensuring health services are accessible, equitable, and financially feasible for every citizen. The objectives are ambitious, aiming to extend health coverage to 80% of the population, enhance essential health services coverage to at least 80%, and reduce personal medical expenses to 35% of total health expenditures. Modernization of health services is a cornerstone of this initiative, aiming to upgrade the technological and operational capabilities of health facilities across the country. Our member organization, Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), recently hosted an EU-election panel discussion. The panel focused on the critical issue of planetary health and societal well-being 🌱 The panel consisted of European Parliament candidates Mika Lintilä (Kesk.), Ville Niinistö (Vihr.), Sirpa Pietikäinen (Kok.),. Ville Merinen (SDP) and Frida Sigfrids (RKP) . The conversation revolved around the need to prioritize comprehensive sustainability and health in EU decision-making processes. Topics included sustainable food production, preparedness, and the health repercussions of the current global environmental triple crisis for which co-beneficial actions exist ❗ Key messages from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) to the candidates included: 1️⃣ Foresight actions and calls that promote co-benefits should be high on the agenda in the next EU's multiannual financial framework program and the forthcoming research program (FP10). 2️⃣ As aging in Europe and a shortage of healthcare workers become significant concerns, foresight, and actions to address these issues are needed at the EU level. 3️⃣ A comprehensive and sustainable approach to health is crucial and should be considered in the next mandate. More actions are required to incorporate this approach at all policy-making levels. 4️⃣ More cooperation in the sector of health across Europe is needed and programs such as EU4Health is a good example of it, and it should be supported. 5️⃣ The EU needs more sustainable policies for improving public health, economic development, and the health of the environment. 6️⃣ Lastly, there is a call for more emphasis and concrete actions to address the growing youth mental health crisis across Europe. 👉 The recording of the fantastic panel discussion can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dh8FiUh7

Delhi's 2024-25 budget has been a significant talking point, showcasing substantial investments across various sectors. With a total budget of ₹76,000 Cr, the allocations reflect a strategic emphasis on education and urban development. The education sector sees the highest allocation at ₹16,396 Cr, signifying the government's focus on nurturing human capital. Urban development follows closely with ₹9,800 Cr, indicating infrastructural growth is a priority. Health and water are also key sectors with ₹8,685 Cr and ₹7,195 Cr respectively, highlighting a dedication to improving the quality of life for citizens. Transport and energy sectors also receive considerable attention with ₹5,702 Cr and ₹3,353 Cr, underscoring the commitment to enhance connectivity and sustainability. The budget further emphasizes social welfare with ₹6,216 Cr allocated to women's empowerment and social welfare, while law and justice receive ₹3,098 Cr. The remaining ₹13,787 Cr is distributed among other areas. This budget distribution reflects a comprehensive approach to balanced development, with an eye on improving infrastructure, social welfare, and justice, alongside promoting education and health.

Original Theoretical and Empirical Papers: Research-based articles dealing with social work theory and practice in the ASEAN region.
