Ostend-Bruges Airport was honored to be invited by Provincial Governor Carl Decaluwé to attend a high-level meeting with a distinguished Chinese delegation on Friday, June 28. This delegation included senior officials from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) and the Mission of China to the EU, highlighting the importance of this engagement for international trade and cooperation. During a productive business lunch in Bruges, our CEO Eric DUMAS had the opportunity to present the unique selling points and wide cargo opportunities offered by #OstendBrugesAirport. The meeting emphasized the critical role of our airport in enhancing connectivity and fostering trade between #Belgium and #China. While our CEO represented us in #Bruges, our Cargo Sales Director, Rose.Yiqian QIU, was simultaneously attending the Air Cargo China event in #Shanghai. Rose had the opportunity to meet many of existing and potential customers. Her presence in Shanghai further solidified our commitment to expanding our cargo operations and strengthening our international partnerships.

Due to a power outage at Manchester Airport, Ethiopian Airlines flight 728 en route to Manchester had to divert to Ostend-Bruges Airport. After a brief stay, the A350-900 safely resumed its journey to the UK. 🌞 Kickoff for the Largest Solar Park in West Flanders! 🌞 Today, EnergyVision launched the construction of West Flanders' largest solar park at Ostend-Bruges Airport. EnergyVision is installing over 60,000 solar panels to provide green energy to the airport and 10,000 households in Ostend! 🔋 Project Highlights: 👉 Spanning the equivalent of 60 football fields 👉Annual production of 37,000 MWh starting in 2026 👉€35 million investment 👉Reduction of 10,100 tons of CO2 annually Residents of Ostend can also invest and benefit from fixed electricity prices through www.stroomvantzeetje.be. We are pleased to announce that in April, Ostend-Bruges Airport welcomed 35,876 passengers, marking a 3.1% increase compared to last year. This represents 89% of our passenger numbers from 2019, demonstrating a strong recovery. ✈️📈 Additionally, we are thrilled to share that travelers can once again fly to Egypt directly from our airport as of April 2024.

More than 250 students are pursuing aviation studies at VTI Oostende, VIVES University, and KU Leuven at the VLOC - Vlaams Luchtvaartopleidingscentrum on our airport. ✈️ Our airport plays a crucial role in shaping the future experts of the aviation industry. This week, the Aviation Technology department of VTI Oostende welcomed 7 Dutch students studying aviation technology in Amsterdam. During their visit, they had the opportunity to get to know NHV (Noordzee Helikopters Vlaanderen) better and learn more about electric aircraft. For this occasion, there was even an electric Pipistrel Velis Electro present at our airport! ⚡✈️ The press was also present when the students were introduced to the electric aircraft.
