People lately ask me if I find entrepreneurship challenging and what is the biggest challenge in my new venture. My answer to the first question is that even though I am new to the entrepreneurial world, I definitely find it pretty exciting rather than challenging. When it comes to the biggest challenge in my business though, it’s always the product and brand awareness and educating my target audience. Now, even though this may seem hard (and it is), it’s the second most important reason why I started Maysan. I didn’t want my first entrepreneurial attempt to be the trade of just another usual thing. Just another version of some worn out item. I wanted it to be a breakthrough! Something that will stir the waters of the industry I would get involved in. Something new and unique. The first reason was that I found a product that I was passionate about. There are only benefits that can be shared with the audience and no drawbacks, which I found pretty amazing! Turning back to the challenges, educating people about the hazards of chemicals in skincare and the importance of going back to the roots and treat our skin (and body) holistically, as well as making them aware of the only product that I could find being 100% natural and toxic free, I must admit it’s hard. But, I’ve always liked the hard way and you may wonder why. Because the joy and pride you feel when you make the difference through the hard way, can’t be compared to anything in the world! #ItsAllMaya #WordsforWednesday #myentrepreneuriallife Customer Feedback or Reviews Recently I came across a video that was doing many a rounds on WA, FB etc - of a strayed leopard prowling in human settlements and attacking dogs both stray and pets that were sleeping on the road or outside the houses. So, this chap in all his clandestine gait approaches the dogs one after the other, utter stealthily and pounces on them at quite a "macro" level. The dogs are absolutely clueless on what happens to them and seem to be enjoying their sleep. Animals, including dogs and cats are told to be more perceptive and intuitive than human beings. But urban or domesticated dogs and cats seemed to have lost this touch with the ground. They do not feel threat coming closer to them until it's already there. Many times, we have heard and witnessed (I have, with my pet dog) animals around us not sensing an earthquake happening until we really get up and run for shelter! They seemed to have traded their innate intuitiveness with the comfort of easily available food and shelter. They don't have to "seek" that anymore. I am trying to build this analogy for our businesses that grow to reach more markets but lose touch with our customers. And especially when there is an "oh-not-so-good" comment about the product or service you deliver, the cynicism that it meets with is much higher than the happiness with which we accept accolades. I believe it is the "not so nice" comments that needs to be taken a little more seriously than the "very nice" ones. The former germinates the innovative seed in us while the latter makes us complacent. Our senses have to be grounded to the customers. We are because they are!
