“Let’s explore the art of the possible”……I’ve heard these words time and time again over my career and they have been at the foundation of how we’ve been serving the business community at Hillcrest Bank. To me this means we show up in a meaningful and collaborative way with our clients and focus on the execution of their unique and specific goals and objectives. “How can we build the box around you” versus the traditional view of fitting you in our box. Thats how we serve clients. Once a year we lock the team (not literally, as you can see the door is open😂😂) in a room and discuss this Art around our clients and prospective clients. This is how we bring “value creation” to life in a team environment. This is how we pull off the coordinated execution of whatever we are working on for you at Hillcrest Bank. This is how we serve YOU! While it’s a long process to prepare, I’m always inspired afterwards by the ideas we discuss and how we can impact and change lives for our clients. If your not a client and want to see what this level of focus means for your banking relationship and for your business, I hope you consider reaching out to any of us on the team (names below). If you are already a client, THANK YOU for the opportunity to serve you and we look forward to our continued relationship in exploring “the art of the possible”. Head of Community Banking at SoFi | CEO with Expertise in Consumer & Commercial Banking, FinTech & Regulatory Compliance | Board Experience, 4X Turnaround Leadership Success | Former Federal Bank Regulator
Yes, Virginia… “WE’RE A ‘BEST PLACE TO WORK’ ONCE AGAIN” A Weekly Blog by Virginia Varela President, Golden Pacific Bank a Division of SoFi Bank, N.A. For the second year in a row Golden Pacific Bank, a division of SoFi Bank, N.A., has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Sacramento. The award program, sponsored by the Sacramento Business Journal, is measured by direct employee feedback. Golden Pacific Bank (GPB) ranked high based on our company scores and compared to peer companies in Sacramento. Surveys completed by almost 90 percent of GPB employees were conducted anonymously by “Quantum Workplace,” a third party that also performed a security audit to ensure data integrity. Here's a random sample of employee comments assembled by Quantum: - “This is a unique organization that only comes along very seldom. Strong leadership and a caring nature with growth opportunities.” - “My job is very important to me, a source of pride and feelings of well-being. I give my all to my job, and I have felt very appreciated and listened to by the management team at GPB. I truly enjoy working here.” - “Overall, a fantastic place to work! We are very customer service-oriented and that is one of our main goals. Our reputation in our community is seen as a wonderful place to bank and work. I am constantly telling our customers how proud I am to be a part of this organization. Our manager sees (each of) us as a person and not just another employee.” - “The management is great! They genuinely care about you as a person. They listen to you and are continually making sure that all is going well in your department.” Our scores: - Overall score was 90% out of 100% total; - Benefits scored 56% compared to 36% for regional peers; and - 74% of our staff are “Highly Engaged” or considered “highly favorable, advocate, intend to stay, high discretionary effort.” The top word that came up most often to describe our work environment: FUN. The top phrase: “The senior leaders of the organization value people as their most important resource.” We are so proud of our team. And we're glad they like working here. Talk about a win-win! #sacramento #yubasutter #bank #sofi

Financial Crime Risk Management | Operational Risk Management | National Young Leader Award Recipient 2022 | EDI Advocate
Resharing this great article!
I sat down with Scotiabank's new CEO Scott Thomson for his first interview and profile since he took on the top job of Canada's fourth largest lender in February. The bank stunned Bay Street last year when it passed on internal candidates and tapped a board member for the top job. Moving from the bank’s board of directors to the top executive job doesn’t fit the typical path of a Big Bank CEO. Scotiabank's board is betting that an outside perspective and a leader focused on reviving the employee culture is the key to turning around the lender's operations. Read it in The Globe and Mail online or in this month's ROB Magazine:
Meet Scotiabank’s new boss, wildly different from the old boss

growth is a process and it requires a willing heart and a hand that will lead you through the whole process
Family Bank has appointed Nancy Njau as the new CEO. She joined the bank in 2002 as a graduate clerk & has risen through the ranks to become the Chief Commercial Officer before being CEO. She replaces Rebecca Mbithi who has left to pursue personal interests. This is a good show. While many kill inhouse talent, others like Family Bank nurture it. Kudos!!
