This week, we were pleased to celebrate another milestone in our journey – and that’s the establishment of our global glass business as part of the Orora Group, combining luxury spirits and wine glass producer SAVERGLASS with our world-class Gawler and Dudley Park facilities in Australia. Following the acquisition of Saverglass in December last year, the formation of our global glass network offers unmatched capability across the world when it comes to the design, manufacture and decoration of quality glass. We’re thrilled to share that Ellie King, Cullet Plant Manager at our Glass Beneficiation Plant in Gawler, has won the Manufacturing Leader Award at the 2024 PKN Packaging News Women in Packaging Awards.  Ellie won out among a very competitive field for her incredible work to raise awareness of recycling standards across the industry! Congratulations Ellie!

We were proud to host Minister for Energy and Mining Tom Koutsantonis at our glass bottle manufacturing plant in Gawler to announce the first ever projects to be delivered for large-scale facilities as part of the South Australian Government’s Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS).   In partnership with Origin Energy, these initiatives will see thousands of tonnes of glass recycled rather than wasted, and greenhouse gas emissions at our facilities reduced, helping us achieve our sustainability goals and benefitting the wider community. We’re thrilled to share that Ellie King, Cullet Plant Manager at our Glass Beneficiation Plant in Gawler, South Australia, has been named as a finalist for the Manufacturing Leader Award at the 2024 PKN Packaging News' Women in Packaging Awards! Ellie’s nomination was based in part on her tireless work in raising awareness of recycling standards across the industry. This has been critical in increasing the amount of recycled content which can be used. We think this makes her a true Manufacturing Champion!   Congratulations to Ellie and all the talented finalists!

Have you heard of cullet? Think of it as recycled glass, finely crushed, refined, and ready for a new life. Here at Orora, we collect recycled glass from container deposit schemes and process it onsite at our Glass Beneficiation Plant to make cullet. We then transfer the cullet to the glass production plant to be put through furnaces and created into new glass containers.  Using cullet not only saves energy consumption in glass production, but also keeps glass out of landfill, making a big impact on our planet.  Learn more about glass recycling at Orora: https://lnkd.in/grqivVju  

Meet Romain, Purchasing Assistant at SAVERGLASS.
