Drowning can happen quickly and silently. 📍Swim in Designated Areas: Choose beaches with lifeguards on duty and swim in designated areas. Follow any posted warnings or instructions. 📍Protect from the Sun: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses, and seek shade during peak sun hours (10 AM - 4 PM). 📍Stay Hydrated: Bring plenty of water and encourage your family to drink regularly to avoid dehydration. 📍Know the Water: Be aware of rip currents, tides, and wave conditions. Over 37 years protecting homes, saving lives from dryer vent fires: Your Trusted HVAC Dryer Vent Expert, dryer vent inspection | dryer vent cleaning | dryer vent repair | reroute faulty dryer vents | pest/bird guards
Grandparent’s Guide to Summer Safety Are you taking care of your grandchildren this summer? If they are less than 7 years old, playtime is essential, but beware of potential dangers in your home. Here are some tips for a safe stay: 1-Ingestion: Store medications and all chemicals in original containers out of reach to prevent accidental poisoning. 2-Water: Prevent unsupervised access to water. Drowning typically happens silently and rapidly so constant supervision by an adult who can swim is essential. Properly fitted life jackets can add an extra layer of safety. 3-Suffocation: Play time can become a risk for entrapment and suffocation. Keep large chests, large containers, washer, dryer and unused refrigerators under lock to prevent a tragedy. 4-Dehydration: It’s a sweltering summer so drink water even before feeling thirsty. Set an alarm to take play breaks and offer children ice water with a splash of fruit juice. Adults can set the example by drinking 1 cup of water (8 fluid ounces) every 15 to 20 minutes each hour and have children over 2 years to take at least 2 gulps of water every 15 to 20 min. Avoid caffeinated and sugary drinks. 5-Heat Stroke: Confusion, irritability, agitation or failure to sweat along with nausea, sleepiness or lack of energy are all signs of heat stroke. Call 911. AALPS Dryer Vent Cleaning is committed to protecting families and homes in the San Antonio area. If you haven’t taken care of your dryer vent maintenance in the past year, schedule a service call.
