Lithium. It powers our favorite handheld devices and stores clean electricity. Very little of the lithium the U.S. currently uses is domestically sourced, but we’re changing that. How? By tapping into the water under our feet. We announced ~$11M for 10 projects across 9 states that will advance tech to extract lithium from geothermal brines. This has 3 advantages: 1. And Now "Gold Hydrogen" The “most probable” amount of gold hydrogen in the world is 5 million megatons. If just 2 percent could be extracted, then drilling could produce the amount of hydrogen needed to reach net-zero emissions for 200 years. Wyoming Energy Startup is Changing the Future of Energy Wyoming has long been known as a hub for extractive energy resources, with vast supplies of coal, oil, and gas. According to recent data, a significant portion of Wyoming's GDP comes from the coal, oil, and gas industries. According to a report by the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division, the mining sector, which includes coal, oil, and gas extraction, contributed approximately 22% to Wyoming's GDP in 2020 and in the third quarter of 2023 the annualized value of the mining industry was $8.5 billion - the largest sector in the state. . It's important to note that while these industries are substantial contributors to the state's economy, Wyoming is also diversifying its economic base with growing sectors like tourism, technology, and renewable energy. This diversification is key to ensuring long-term economic stability and growth. Startups are playing a key role in this transformation in teh economic balance of Wyoming’s economy. One startup in particular is having a big impact in the state, with implications for change nation-wide. Bill Gates’ company, Terra Power, is building a micro-nuclear facility based on a Natrium plant.  This uses a unique cooling system that is much safer, and it operates at a scale that is much smaller than previous nuclear plants.  As a result, it is possible that this plant could be opening as early as 2030, compared to decades of delays for traditional plants.  Nuclear is a big part of the future carbon free energy ecosystem.  Its benefits include consistent output unlike wind and solar.  This project is all made possible by the collaboration of state and local governments with special federal government programs. Kemmerer Wyoming is the center of America’s energy future and it’s the support of innovative Wyoming startups that are making it all possible. These are the kinds of companies that the Rockies Wyoming Fund, LP is designed to support.  Wyoming investors now have a way to support projects like this TerraPower plant that will create 1600 projected jobs, and serve as an example to other plants just like it around the world.

Today the Digital Energy Council submitted a statement for the record to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, & Grid Security at their hearing with Electric Grid Operators.  Highlighted in the statement for the record are the benefits of the digital asset mining industry including: 1.Offering a grid stabilizing tool that no other users or purchasers of power at this scale can offer. 2. Ability to curtail as quickly as digital asset miners, particularly the granular ability to curtail machine by machine ultimately down to the Kilowatt. 3. Currently, the U.S. relies on approximately 1,000 peaker plants, mostly fueled by natural gas, to meet infrequent peaks in electricity demand.  Digital asset miners offer a technology to cut down on peaker plants. 4. New map shows vast potential for geothermal energy beneath entire US | WJHL | Tri-Cities News & Weather https://lnkd.in/eWH_PqMS Much of the vast fleet of U.S. military bases, coal plants and industrial facilities sits atop a prime resource for clean energy: layers of hot rock deep within the earth. That’s according to GeoMap, a new collaboration that combines the subsurface expertise of dozens of scientists organized by Project Innerspace, a nonprofit focused on building out the geothermal industry with the surface data of Google Maps. The results released Tuesday show the sprawling expanse of U.S. potential for geothermal, which taps heat from deep within the earth for clean, on-demand energy. That potential is especially red-hot in the western U.S., with striking hot spots also seen across the colder, older regions of the East. Geothermal is the focus of wide and bipartisan interest from entities ranging from the fossil fuel majors to climate groups to the U.S. Department of Energy — a focus that has led to a boom in new startups. In March, Jigar Shah, head of the Energy Department’s Loan Programs Office, told The Hill that $25 billion in investment over the next five years — less than the cost of the last nuclear plant to be built — could begin a rolling snowball of funding that could power between 80 and 260 million households by midcentury with clean, reliable power from below.
