Textile Exchange matrix made open-source US materials standards body Textile Exchange has open-sourced its Preferred Fiber and Materials Matrix (#PFMM), making its data publicly available for the very first time. The index primarily considers how various #sustainability standards fare across 80 different qualitative and quantitative measures, organised by material category: #cotton, #flax, #wool, manmade #cellulosic fibres (MMCFs) and #synthetics. Importantly, this latest version of the PFMM does not include overall performance scores. Readers are instead invited to direct their attention to the scoring within impact areas. In addition to textile fiber preparation, mechanical recycling, and variations of these technologies, ANDRITZ also offers solutions in chemical textile recycling. Chemical recycling is so exciting because here, through the appropriate treatment of the fibers, a complete separation into the individual fiber types takes place. For example seperating polyester and cotton, a typical fiber mix in many textiles of the fashion industry. The origin fibers are thus recovered and can be reused in the production of high-quality textile products - a true circular economy. Our short animation shows how this works. And here you can find out more about ANDRITZ chemical recycling: https://lnkd.in/d8r7CyXT #andritz #EngineeredSuccess #recyclingmatters #ChemicalRecycling #textilecircularity #circulareconomy

In recent years, demand has increased for more sustainable fabrics. This includes textiles made with waterborne coating solutions, raw materials that donโt contain hazardous substances, and increasingly, vegan materials. Therefore, manufacturers in the textile industry need to do both: Certifying their productsโ improved sustainability, and balancing this with technical performance. Now, creating breathable, waterproof, and vegan coated textiles just got easier! ๐ง๐ฑ Thatโs because weโve teamed up with Trans-Textil to develop a new water-based polyurethane coating system. Based on our INSQINยฎ aqueous technology, the result is Trans-Textilโs AQUAIRยฎ system โ which is: โ Breathable coated textile material โ Water-repellent โ "100% vegan"-certified by Pirmasens Testing and Research Institute โ All components and process steps are tested according to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEXยฎ ๐ Find the full details in our case study: https://lnkd.in/eDpgWyMu #SyntheticTextiles #VeganMaterials #StatusNext

Quite interesting event related to circularity for textile sector by Dutch Erdotex Group. The collected used textile is first categorized per type. Next the textiles are assessed for quality and sorted into high quality products for re-use. https://lnkd.in/dEZ_jd4m

๐ฑInnovations in Textile: Are We Truly Interconnected? The textile industry is on the cusp of groundbreaking changes. We're seeing exciting innovations from new sustainable materials to eco-conscious dyeing methods and forward-thinking recycling techniques. But a central question looms large: How harmoniously do these innovations fit together within our evolving supply chain? Each development is promising, yet combining them cohesively presents a complex challenge. For instance, will a novel textile substrate seamlessly align with cutting-edge colorants, and can they together be processed effectively using the newest machinery? Perhaps our approach needs recalibration. Starting from the core โ the manufacturing level โ we could identify key challenges. From there, align these challenges with corresponding innovations, and more importantly, evaluate their combined efficacy. ๐ค Visualize a facility where all these groundbreaking innovations converge: 1) Implementation ease is not just theorized but materialized. 2) Holistic evaluations determine not just individual, but collective impact savings. 3) Performance is gauged not in isolation but in conjunction with other innovations. Could such a cohesive approach change the way we perceive and integrate innovations in the textile industry? Would love to hear your thoughts on this! #TextileInnovation #SustainableFashion #SupplyChainIntegration
