Ensuring Passenger Safety and Service Excellence: Key Traits of Asia Transport Drivers In the bustling cities of Asia, where transportation plays a crucial role in the daily lives of millions, the safety and well-being of passengers are of paramount importance. Whether it is a taxi, bus, or ride-hailing service, the responsibility of ensuring passenger safety lies in the hands of the drivers. While technical skills and knowledge are essential, there are certain key traits that set apart exceptional Asian transport drivers, making them paragons of safety and service excellence. One of the key traits of Asia transport drivers is their proficiency in communication. In a diverse and multicultural region like Asia, where languages and dialects vary from one city to another, effective communication becomes crucial. As one of the many Singaporeans who cross over to #JohorBahru once in awhile for food, leisure and shopping, I too am looking forward to the improved #connectivity between both sides. As to what form it could take, that remains to be seen. Currently there’s a train shuttle service both ways across the #Causeway, but it sells out really quickly and way in advance, limiting its impact in addressing the congestion. To be honest, I’ve only ever taken it once! The #Singapore authorities recently started a QR code system to clear passports, and some have suggested the feature could improve overall #traffic flow if deployed on both sides of the land links. Within the city, roads are more often than not clogged with vehicles. For instance, people waiting for their Grabs at City Square mall usually see a main road lined with cars stretching endlessly! At least there is now an added push to improve the #transport infrastructure, as Johor seeks to maximise its benefits from the upcoming Special Economic Zone with Singapore. Insightful deep dive by Amir Yusof into this matter (https://lnkd.in/gTpKkuHM). Another cross-platform production taking our CNA digital stories to the TV screens, giving extra legs beyond their original mediums. Do have a watch and a read! 🙌🏻

🚗 Enduring Long Commutes: The Malaysian Dilemma Daily, countless Malaysians grapple with arduous commutes, covering distances exceeding 300km. Driven by familial commitments, limited transfer choices, and soaring city housing costs, these journeys pose significant challenges. This article, published by #NST, talks about many stories of people commuting 100-200km daily, prioritizing family support despite health issues. Stories of government servants covering long distances daily stem from rejected transfer requests. Azlin Roslan and Nur Alina Jabir's stories shed light on the impact of relocation choices influenced by family ties, job prospects, and the pursuit of affordable housing. Nur Alina, travelling 250km daily, underscores her passion for work and the sacrifices made as a spouse, raising safety concerns and incurring substantial expenses on fuel and toll. These stories highlight the pressing need for solutions. One such solution, as suggested by Farid Affandi, involves considering a pay cut to work closer to home or bearing a higher cost of living to reside nearer to the workplace. This should be considered by most of these folks, as the psychological costs of your commute are more detrimental than the benefits of earning a slightly higher salary. Another key solution here could be utilizing private buses for daily commutes to alleviate struggles and save money. Private buses often offer direct routes, minimizing travel time and reducing the stress associated with lengthy journeys. Modern private buses go the extra mile by providing comfort amenities, ensuring a relaxing journey for commuters and mitigating the physical toll of daily travel. To address the challenges of long commutes, RedBus has introduced the "Bus Pass" – a tailored solution for daily commuters. This initiative aims to save money and enhance convenience by providing a cost-effective, all-in-one travel pass. The synergy between RedBus’s Bus Pass and the use of private buses presents a comprehensive solution to the challenges faced by long-distance commuters. Also, companies can explore flexible work arrangements, while policymakers should prioritize infrastructure improvements to ease the burden of long commutes further. Let's embrace private buses as a viable and sustainable option, reshaping the commuting experience and fostering a more balanced work-life equation. #LongCommutes #WorkLifeBalance #MalaysianHeroes #RedBusBusPass #PrivateBuses #ConvenientCommute #SustainableTravel https://lnkd.in/g_CHX92H

BEHIND EVERYTHING IS A REASON I came upon this picture of a Singaporean car (car-plate number partially inked out) in a petrol station in JB. Its driver actually jacked up the car so that more petrol can be 'forced' into the fuel tank at a certain angle, from this one visit. To put things in context for those who do not live or drive in Singapore, Singaporeans often cross the land-border into Malaysia, and into the state of Johor Bahru, to take advantage of the exchange rate in their shopping. With a rate of 3.4+, Singaporeans make their dollars stretch further by stocking up on necessities in Malaysian ringgit. Families stock up on groceries. Drivers fill their tanks with petrol, or at least 1/3 of it as the law requires drivers to depart Singapore with 2/3 of their tanks full. Some strange behaviours have evolved over the years. With the exchange rate between the SGD and MYR inching to its best this year, the famous kiasu-ism (extreme FOMO) of Singaporeans has been amplified, and some extreme behaviours have emerged. This example is one of them. A driver so intent on getting every drop of 'cheaper petrol', that he doesn't even care what the world is seeing. Or maybe he does, that's why he puts on a mask. But while many people criticise his behaviour, I find myself unwilling to be harsh about it. We don't know what struggles he is going through, what burdens he is shouldering, or what circumstances he has to navigate. We just don't know. The Chinese has the saying that "每个可恨之人,必有可怜之处", meaning "Behind every hated person, ultimately lies a person in pitiful circumstances". I wish more people understood, and hold back on the toxic criticisms and the judgements. I've come to know that as long as we try and imagine the reasons behind most behaviours, we can see how many are reasonable and forgivable. Is this true empathy? Ring the bell 🔔 on my profile. Supercharging insights with comms |Communications Consultant | Social Content Strategy | Building Pillion Expats
My transition to working in a global company was made seamless thanks to an organisation that is an Indian as it gets. My team at Maersk had 15+ nationalities! Definitely one of the more international ones in the company. How did I adjust in this global team with no international schools on my CV and having lived only in India all my life? It was working at Dailyhunt that truly opened my eyes to cultural nuances of each region in India. An app in 14 Indian languages and pitching regional/national campaigns to brands meant we had to have our regional behavioural insights bang on. Being curious, empathetic and respectful of all the mini-Indias was embedded in the company and also my role. It was these values that helped me make international friends and the pleasure of having these insights that - - Middle class Argentines and middle class Indians are very similar - India has a lot in common with Japan - Bulgarian Tarator is a lot like Indian Raita - Almost everyone on the planet uses the Danish cookie box as a sewing kit I see companies asking for previous experience in global companies in job descriptions. To them I say, look beyond the CV. You don't need to have worked in a global company to be global in your approach. And you will only learn that when you have the same global approach to hiring as you expect from the candidates applying. -- Sincerely, a 'global citizen' with only one global company on the CV but surviving just fine in Denmark 🇩🇰 PS - a glimpse from Cultural Feast, a team initiative started by Ritanshu and I where we explored cuisine from each nationality in the team. This one was about China and in the quiz about China, I managed to come in 2nd.
